Does Drinking Water Get Old?

By Tom Herrin

For those of us who are really into making our best efforts count toward maintaining good health, we usually try to create the whole package.  In other words, we get in some exercise, eat right, and try to avoid drinks that may have some harmful things.  As a result, we may avoid alcohol, caffeine, sugars, and a list of other things.  This may leave us with water as our one and only healthy choice.  It is not so bad.  I have always enjoyed water to quench my thirst, but there are times in which any of us may want to have some other kind of beverage simply as a change of pace.  There is more out there than we may realize, but it may bear investigating.

There Is Always Something New

In recent years, it seems that a lot of people have turned to a greater variety of drinks.  Some of them purport to increase energy or somehow boost performance.  If we are concerned about drinking for health, we would do well to be a good reader.  Studying the labels, and becoming familiar with the content of anything we consume can help us to be more connected.  Each of us may have different requirements or reactions.  Many of these drinks that are supposed to rev us up may contain high amounts of sugar and caffeine.  Some have levels that far exceed any other drinks we may be avoiding.

Fruit Drinks May or May Not Be Great

Even though we all know we should eat plenty of fruit, it could be a mistake to overdo some fruit drinks. Some have far more sugar than the amount that may be best for you.  Most have some good vitamins and minerals.  Some of them are high in fiber.  We just need to find out and make educated decisions rather than jump the gun.

Adding Flavor to Water May Work

There are all kinds of things that may be added to water today to make a pretty nice drink.  Many restaurants offer a variety of flavors that may be added.  Most are fruit-based though some are other things such as chocolate or vanilla.  Anytime I feel burned out on water, or just want something with more flavor, I will add something to my water.  My personal favorite is to add lime and strawberry.   It tastes good but is still very light.  There are lots of others to choose from.  It may be fun to play with a few of them.
