Losing weight is hard. Once we lose the weight, we have to move into the maintenance phase, which once again, can be hard. When it comes down to it, anything dealing with our weight can bring difficulty to our lives. That can sound a bit depressing, but there's good news as well: Losing and maintaining weight can be made easy. If you need a little help moving toward your best health and keeping your weight in check, take a look at these simple ideas to incorporate into your life today.

No Second Helpings

It's a good idea to make a hard and fast rule when it comes to eating: No second helpings. Put appropriate helpings on your plate the first time, and do not go back for seconds. Oftentimes, we go back only for the taste or because we're using food for emotional satisfaction. But it's rarely because we actually need more calories or nutrition. Skip the second helping, and it will be way easier to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight moving forward.

Set a Schedule

It's easy to get off schedule with anything, but it's especially easy when it comes to food. All it takes is an ill-timed snack for a few days in a row, and suddenly we're all out of whack. Erratic eating schedules make it hard for our bodies to regulate themselves. Decide what time you want to begin eating, what time you want to stop eating, and put some parameters on your snacks and meals. The more scheduled you are with your consumption, the easier it is for your body to be efficient in long-term weight management. 

Eliminate Drink Calories

You really shouldn't be drinking your calories. If you want to have a soda or coffee or a little bit of tea, go for it, but you need to factor those calories into your total consumption. And even better, consider giving those calories up altogether. Instead, drink water, water, and more water. If you need flavor, opt for a little lemon or lime juice, or some zero-calorie flavor. If you drink a lot of flavored drinks, you may be able to cut hundreds of calories with just this one tip. 

Losing and maintaining weight can absolutely be difficult. It takes a combination of patience, persistence, and long-term commitment. But you can definitely make it easier on yourself. Use these simple ideas to promote a healthy weight and healthier life from here on out.
