Easy Exercise Options When You're Stuck at Home
By Brandi Goodman
There are days when you just can't get out and about. Whether you're feeling a bit unwell and don't want to be around others at the gym, or the weather is unpleasant and you'd rather avoid the outside, you may be stuck at home and unable to get out of the house. When this is the case, there are still some easy exercise options you can use that can get you up and moving so you're not stuck sitting around all day. Exercise is great for boosting both your mental and physical well-being and should be part of your everyday routine.
Dance to Your Favorite Tunes
Dancing burns a lot of calories. It's also fun. You don't have to dance like a professional to make it count. Just turn up your favorite tunes and get up and dance any way you see fit. Even dancing around silly with your kids can get your heart pumping for a good workout.
Follow a Fitness Video
Fitness videos are great options when you're looking for a real workout to follow along with a trainer. There are lots of programs you can purchase for intensive training, but there are just as many free options available. Go on Facebook and search PopSugar Fitness. Their videos are posted on the social media platform as well as on YouTube, allowing you to follow along for many different workouts with various professionals. They all have one person on screen showing a modified version that beginners can use.
Use Your Furniture
Your furniture is there. Use it. Do tricep dips off your couch or sit in your kitchen chair and hold your core tight as you lift and lower your legs. You can even do some wall push-ups to work on strengthening your shoulders and arms before you start trying push-ups on the floor. No equipment is necessary when you have so many things around your house to utilize.
Play Interactive Video Games
So many game systems have interactive options available now. The original Nintendo Wii system had a Fit Board that connected to the device. You could stand on it to check your weight, adjust your posture, learn some yoga moves, and play mini-games that had you moving side-to-side to dodge snowballs or moving your legs to pedal a bike. PlayStation Move and Xbox Kinect are also available choices. Games such as Just Dance, Kinect Sports, The Biggest Loser, and more will have you moving and enjoying your exercise time.
Plenty of easy exercise options exist when you're stuck at home. Add in exercise every day so you can enhance your physical and mental health and keep yourself looking and feeling well. With so many options available, there's no reason not to.
