Think Twice When Adopting Changes to Diet
By Tom Herrin
Most people go through phases when considering the best things to do for their personal nutritional needs. It is easy to follow the current trends by jumping on the bandwagon. If it works for others, maybe it will work for all. They may sound good, but it doesn't always hold water. Nutrition is a critical component in managing health. Everyone does not require the same formula, but some of the basics hold true in every case. Each needs some kind of a balance of proteins, fats, and carbs. While the portions may vary from person to person, they are all vital parts. When people feel the need to follow some trend of severe cutting, it can be disastrous. A popular one today is to cut carbs.
All Carbs Are Not Equal
There are different kinds of carbs. One that is particularly harmful for many people is from sugar. There are plenty of products available in packaged forms that are full of sugar. People looking for a quick fix for their hunger often reach for these items. They would be well advised to dramatically limit their taste for these. It has been strongly suggested that women should limit their intake of calories from these carbs from sugars to 100. For men, that figure is 150.
Good Carbs Are Necessary for Good Health
People cannot function well without taking in good carbs. They are absolutely for the muscles to work well. When people do not have a sufficient supply of carbs, something else must be used in their place. The body will begin to use muscle tissue for fuel. This can deplete the body's lean muscle and lead to some serious problems. The alternative to this is simple. Consuming fruits, vegetables, and healthy grains can provide what the body needs. These good carbs help make a healthier body.
Stay Informed
When we educate ourselves about our health, we cannot lose. Anytime we make changes to our diet, we need to know as much as possible about how we are affected by it. I try to stay on top of my overall health so that I make the best decisions possible. In the long run, it can pay off big. Each of us wants to experience good health and the perks that come with it. We need to avoid following impulse decisions to jump on some bandwagon. If we do this, and use good judgement, we will be the beneficiary.
