Common Causes of Neck and Back Pain
Neck pain and back pain are very common complaints. The number of people that suffer from either of these ailments (or both!) is growing by the day. If you suffer from either, you may wonder what causes it and more importantly what you can do about it. Here are 4 reasons that you might be experiencing back pain, and a simple solution to have you feeling better in no time.
Sitting. Sitting for prolonged periods of time is actually really bad for your health. Your body is not designed to sit for extended lengths. It’s made to walk, stand, sit...it’s made to move. Besides the lack of moving, sitting also generally promotes bad posture. This means that the spine, from the bottom all the way to the neck, is often out of alignment for long periods of time. As our lives become more and more sedentary, you can expect more and more problems stemming from our sitting culture.
Lack of exercise. Similarly to above, our bodies were meant to move. The number of people that skip out on any sort of exercise is growing steadily. The problem is that exercise does multiple goods for the body. It keeps it loose and limber so that it doesn’t get stiff. It also builds strength so that it can carry the loads that we require of it. And of course, it builds endurance, so that we can get through the day. Without exercise, your back and neck simply don’t have the strength or stamina to keep up with the work.
Bad diet. This may not directly affect the neck and back, but it affects the body in general. If you give your body the wrong kind of fuel, it’s bound to break down at some point. Putting bad food in your body also lead to weight gain, and when you’re carrying around too much weight, your spine has to do too much work leading to aches and pains, and sometimes even injury.
Electronics. It’s rare to walk into a room nowadays and see people that don’t have their face in a screen of some sort. Laptops, tablets, phones...you name it, and it’s probably contributing to your neck and back pain. The posture that we hold when on these devices is horrendous! Multiply that by the amount of time that we spend using these devices, and you’ve got a recipe for pain.
It’s true that most people suffer from neck and back pain, but that doesn’t mean that you have to live with it. It doesn’t mean you have to stand all day or give up your precious electronics either. One option that is available is to see a chiropractor. At The Joint ...the chiropractor place, a chiropractor can perform spinal manipulation to help keep your spine in proper alignment. Keeping the spine in alignment can prevent most, and sometimes all, of your back pain. With walk-in appointments and affordable prices, you can get rid of your pain and get on to a healthier plan of action today.
