3 Ways to End Morning Exhaustion

By Genevieve Cunningham

One of the worst feelings is to wake up and immediately feel exhausted. We haven’t even done anything yet, but we already feel rundown and worn out. It’s the worst! Unfortunately, many of us feel this way on a daily basis. It’s as if we can never really catch up on rest, and so as a result, we’re exhausted from sunup to sundown. But what can we do? This is the way life goes as an adult, right? Sometimes yes. But it’s not necessarily true that we should be constantly fatigued. If you’re ready to beat the morning exhaustion and have more energy every day, take a look at these tips to try today.

Improve Your Sleeping Habits

The better you sleep, the better you’ll feel. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that better sleep will give you more energy in the mornings. The question is: How do I get more sleep? Start with a regular bedtime so that your body gets used to a particular schedule. Then add total darkness, a comfortable and supportive pillow, and lower your technology usage at night. Before long, you’ll be sleeping much better and have much more energy in the morning.

Drink Water

Water might be more of a jumpstart in the mornings than coffee. But if we’re being honest, most of us really don’t want water in the mornings. A glass of water can get your body systems awake and moving, focus the mind, and make you feel refreshed. If you need coffee, drink it. And then follow it up with a cup of water. Or drink your glass of water and then follow it up with a cup of coffee. Either way, do your best to get in some water, and you’ll likely feel better all day long.

Don't Hit the Snooze

We think that hitting the snooze button will give us more time to rest. And technically, it does. But it’s not good rest. It’s that half awake state of rest that makes us more tired by the time we get up. Instead, get up as soon as the alarm goes off. This will be difficult at first, but once you feel the results, you won’t want to go back to snoozing in the morning.

There are always going to be those mornings. The mornings when you just can’t wake up or feel refreshed no matter what you do. But you shouldn’t feel that way every day. And if you do, it’s time to make some significant changes. Use these tips to change up your routine and gain back some of your energy. Some small changes might be all it takes to turn your mornings around and feel energized all day long.
