Walking for 15 Minutes Can Do This!
By Sara Butler
Walking is great for your health and wellness. In fact, aside from how it helps to get your body moving, there are a ton of benefits you can get from just 15 minutes of walking per day. Yes, there's not much in life a short stroll can't fix, it seems. Here are some of the benefits you have to look forward to!
Happiness in an Instant
If you're having a bad day, then you may think what you really need is a pint of ice cream -- but think again! What you should do when you're feeling down is get outside and go for a walk.
Studies have shown that people who are feeling down or depressed improved their symptoms with a stroll. So, the next time you're feeling upset, go for a walk and see how it can help to make you happier.
Get Creative
Are you suffering from a block in your creativity? A walk may be what you need to help break through. Walking has been found to help get your creative juices flowing as it helps to improve thinking and enhance your creativity.
Shoo Away Allergies
It may sound a bit counterintuitive to go outside when all the stuff causing your itchy eyes, sneezing, and runny nose is out there too, but that's exactly what you should do. Some studies have found that running or walking outside for as little as 15 minutes can help reduce your allergy symptoms by up to 70 percent.
Give Your Metabolism a Boost
You may think that in order to help speed up your metabolism you need to become a marathon runner, but that's simply not true. Any type of cardiovascular exercise can help to increase your metabolism. The only caveat is that you may want to practice intervals between walking slow and fast in order to really get your metabolism going. While any movement helps, just taking a stroll won't help as much.
Add Years to Your Life
If you want to live longer, then you need to go for a walk. Researchers have found that you can add up to seven years to your lifespan by exercising on a daily basis, regardless of your body weight. Plus, those years you add onto your life will be healthier and happier than if you were simply a couch potato.
Exercise is essential and a little walking can help you go farther than your imagine!
