Dr. Nick Nam joined The Joint Chiropractic family of “Corporate” healthcare providers in 2019 having worked in Monterey Park, Monrovia, and Whittier. He briefly left the model to gain additional experience in private practice addressing Personal Injury cases. Dr Nick opted to return to the model, in October 2022, but this time joining the Rosemead/Monrovia franchise team.
Dr. Nick, as he prefers to be called, says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is "being able to make a lasting and positive impact on the health of my patients with only my hands.” He is passionate about making the patients feel better, live better, and function better. Dr Nick “also likes getting to know patients of all kinds of backgrounds and experiences.”
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Nick moved to San Diego when he was 16 years old. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from University California Santa Barbara in 2011. He soon realized that he wanted to do something in the health profession that was very hands on and pursuing chiropractic was the natural direction. Dr. Nick went on to study at the Southern California University of Health Sciences and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2018.
Dr. Nick and his wife got married after navigating a 4 year long distance relationship. They are happily married and have a 17-month daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, longboarding, camping, and rollerblading.
Dr. Nick is well versed with diversified adjusting techniques; is comfortable treating kids 7 years and up; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; he is experienced with Thompson drop table, activator, MRT, and extremity adjusting. He is also fluent in Korean.
Dr. Nick has been really impressed with the Rosemead/Monrovia team dedication to constantly improve their customer service and teamwork. “The synergy between the front office and back-office staff is among the best I’ve seen… The front office and management truly believe in the model and what we do as doctors and they truly care for the patients… that in turn creates a better experience for the patients.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
The one thing that Dr. Nick says he always has in his kitchen is diet coke and ramen… “not quite the healthiest options, but everything in moderation.”
One of Dr. Nick’s most memorable and proudest moments was when he volunteered at Hand-In-Hand, where he interacted with children who were diagnosed with ADHD or autism spectrum disorder. Because of his dedication to helping the community, he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from former president Obama.
Dr. Roger Casillas joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in October 2021 and currently splits his time between the Rosemead and Monrovia locations. He received an undergrad degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University in 2009 and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2013.
Dr. Roger has always had a passion for fitness, nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle, but says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is "Being able to help educate patients on how to maintain a healthy spine for a lifetime."
A product of northern California, Dr. Roger grew up in Stockton, California. While pursuing his chiropractic degree, he remained passionate about helping others maintain healthier lives by working as a Personal Trainer. In his spare time, he continues to enjoy working out, practicing yoga, and spending time with his fiancé, Sindy.
After years of playing sports and collecting numerous injuries playing football since the age of 10, Dr. Roger began to experience numbness and weakness in his right arm while in college. “A friend, recommended I see a chiropractor and that experience changed my life! I experienced firsthand how chiropractic could work wonders without the need for surgery or medication…that was when I decided to become a chiropractor myself.”
Dr. Roger is well versed with diversified adjusting techniques; is comfortable with infant care; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; he is experienced in treating a wide range of ailments including (but not limited to) arthritis, sciatica, neck pain, migraines, upper and lower back pain. Dr. Roger is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Roger is excited about his involvement with the Rosemead/Monrovia team, because “I really enjoy the environment and being able to focus 100% of my energy to helping patients.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
Prior to joining The Joint Chiropractic model, Dr. Roger ran his own successful practice in Medellin, Colombia. Which he considers one of the coolest things he’s ever done. What started as an after-graduation trip to South America, turned into perhaps his greatest adventure. While visiting Colombia, he found his entrepreneurial spirit and made the decision to open a chiropractic clinic there to share his knowledge and provide chiropractic care to the underserved Medellin community.
The one thing that Dr. Roger says he must have in his refrigerator is La Croix sparkling water.
He says that if he could invite any four people from history to his ideal dinner party, he would invite Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Elon Musk, and Buddha… “together, I think It would be cool to discuss and perhaps solve some of the mysteries of the universe.”
Dr. Daniel Ayers joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2016, and originally joined the Rosemead clinic in 2018. He left the model in late 2019 to provide care for at Adventist Health in northern California, before returning to The Joint model in late 2021 working notably at the Burbank and Riverside locations. Fortunately for us, the timing worked out and he has rejoined the Rosemead (and now Monrovia) team in early 2023. He received a bachelor of science in business from Western University and his doctorate of chiropractic from Los Angeles Chiropractic College.
Dr. Dan, as he prefers to be called, says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is “improving the lives of others, and meeting new and interesting patients.”
Prior to returning to the Rosemead/Monrovia team, he also worked in Monterey Park, Downey, La Quinta, Alhambra, South Pasadena, Lakeport, Port Hueneme, Ventura, Burbank, and Riverside.
A product of the San Gabriel Valley, Dr. Dan and his wife have raised two sons and a daughter, as well as a German shepherd named Kit. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities, sports, audio books, aquaponics, and politics.
Dr. Dan found his way to chiropractic through baseball.
“In 1977, I was an employee of the L.A. Dodgers,” he says. “Dr. Leroy Perry was asked to assist a player with some wrist issues, and I was able to see the process. My interest started then, but it wasn’t until my father-in-law said one day, ‘You should become a chiropractor.’ Fast forward three years later, about 1991, I took the prerequisite classes in the evenings and in 1993, entered chiropractic college.”
Dr. Dan is really excited about his involvement with the Rosemead and Monrovia clinics. “The management team is great, with a mix of corporate and franchise ideas, with flexibility, understanding and support, as well as the professional presence and genuine best patient practices,” he says. “Being close to home also helps.”
In Case You Didn’t Know
The one thing that Dr. Dan says he must have in his refrigerator is “an ice-cold Gatorade of any flavor; it’s especially smooth and thirst quenching on a hot day.”
He says that if he could invite any four people from history to his ideal dinner party, he would invite Jesus Christ, President George Washington, Neil Armstrong, and Elvis Presley. “Meeting Jesus would be indescribable,” he says. “It would be great to hear Washington’s vision of our country. I would like to learn more of the lunar landing, and maybe Elvis could provide some post-dinner party entertainment.”
The greatest thing Dr. Dan ever did, he says, hit pretty close to home: “Saving both my daughter and father-in-law from two different life-threatening conditions at different times.”
In the case of his father-in-law, he had come to Dr. Dan’s office with upper extremity weakness. “Upon my insistence, I took him to emergency, where he was evaluated further and determined to have a cerebral blood clot, which had been progressing since being struck in the head two years prior by the garage door. Fortunately, he was operated on immediately that same day and fully recovered.
“In my daughter’s case, while hiking in Yosemite, she became extremely close to accidentally falling into a ravine had I not been there to prevent it. There are several deaths per year in Yosemite due to accidental falls.”
