Meet The Doctors

Dr. Nick Nam, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Monrovia

Dr. Nick Nam joined The Joint Chiropractic family of “Corporate” healthcare providers in 2019 having worked in Monterey Park, Monrovia, and Whittier. He briefly left the model to gain additional experience in private practice addressing Personal Injury cases. Dr Nick opted to return to the model, in October 2022, but this time joining the Rosemead/Monrovia franchise team.

Dr. Nick, as he prefers to be called, says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is "being able to make a lasting and positive impact on the health of my patients with only my hands.” He is passionate about making the patients feel better, live better, and function better. Dr Nick “also likes getting to know patients of all kinds of backgrounds and experiences.”

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Nick moved to San Diego when he was 16 years old. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from University California Santa Barbara in 2011. He soon realized that he wanted to do something in the health profession that was very hands on and pursuing chiropractic was the natural direction. Dr. Nick went on to study at the Southern California University of Health Sciences and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2018.

Dr. Nick and his wife got married after navigating a 4 year long distance relationship. They are happily married and have a 17-month daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding, longboarding, camping, and rollerblading.

Dr. Nick is well versed with diversified adjusting techniques; is comfortable treating kids 7 years and up; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; he is experienced with Thompson drop table, activator, MRT, and extremity adjusting. He is also fluent in Korean.

Dr. Nick has been really impressed with the Rosemead/Monrovia team dedication to constantly improve their customer service and teamwork. “The synergy between the front office and back-office staff is among the best I’ve seen… The front office and management truly believe in the model and what we do as doctors and they truly care for the patients… that in turn creates a better experience for the patients.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

The one thing that Dr. Nick says he always has in his kitchen is diet coke and ramen… “not quite the healthiest options, but everything in moderation.”

One of Dr. Nick’s most memorable and proudest moments was when he volunteered at Hand-In-Hand, where he interacted with children who were diagnosed with ADHD or autism spectrum disorder. Because of his dedication to helping the community, he received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from former president Obama.

Dr. Roger Casillas, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Monrovia

Dr. Roger Casillas joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in October 2021 and currently splits his time between the Rosemead and Monrovia locations. He received an undergrad degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University in 2009 and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2013.

Dr. Roger has always had a passion for fitness, nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle, but says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is "Being able to help educate patients on how to maintain a healthy spine for a lifetime."

A product of northern California, Dr. Roger grew up in Stockton, California. While pursuing his chiropractic degree, he remained passionate about helping others maintain healthier lives by working as a Personal Trainer. In his spare time, he continues to enjoy working out, practicing yoga, and spending time with his fiancé, Sindy.

After years of playing sports and collecting numerous injuries playing football since the age of 10, Dr. Roger began to experience numbness and weakness in his right arm while in college. “A friend, recommended I see a chiropractor and that experience changed my life! I experienced firsthand how chiropractic could work wonders without the need for surgery or medication…that was when I decided to become a chiropractor myself.”

Dr. Roger is well versed with diversified adjusting techniques; is comfortable with infant care; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; he is experienced in treating a wide range of ailments including (but not limited to) arthritis, sciatica, neck pain, migraines, upper and lower back pain. Dr. Roger is also fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Roger is excited about his involvement with the Rosemead/Monrovia team, because “I really enjoy the environment and being able to focus 100% of my energy to helping patients.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

Prior to joining The Joint Chiropractic model, Dr. Roger ran his own successful practice in Medellin, Colombia. Which he considers one of the coolest things he’s ever done. What started as an after-graduation trip to South America, turned into perhaps his greatest adventure. While visiting Colombia, he found his entrepreneurial spirit and made the decision to open a chiropractic clinic there to share his knowledge and provide chiropractic care to the underserved Medellin community.

The one thing that Dr. Roger says he must have in his refrigerator is La Croix sparkling water.

He says that if he could invite any four people from history to his ideal dinner party, he would invite Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Elon Musk, and Buddha… “together, I think It would be cool to discuss and perhaps solve some of the mysteries of the universe.”

Dr. Andrew Gomez recently joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers and the Rosemead/Monrovia team in September 2023.

Dr. Andrew, as he prefers to be called, says the thing he loves most about being in the chiropractic field is “helping patients figure out the origin of their ailments and creating relief for them… and secondly being able to vibe with patients… having the opportunity to really get to know the people I’m helping.”

A local product of the San Gabriel Valley, Dr. Andrew grew up in Baldwin Park and South El Monte. He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology at Azusa Pacific University in 2019 and went on to get his Doctor of Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences in 2023.

Dr. Andrew participated in a lot of high school sports and was even a varsity athlete in wrestling. He had his fair share of sport injuries which led him to getting his first neck (cervical) adjustment. It was life changing experience for him and at that moment he knew he wanted to be able to help others the same way.

Dr. Andrew is a NASM certified corrective exercise specialist; well versed with diversified adjusting techniques; experienced with the use of drop table and activator; is comfortable with prenatal/postnatal care and treating children; familiar treating all extremities including TMJ; experienced in treating a wide range of ailments including (but not limited to) arthritis, sciatica, neck pain, migraines, upper and lower back pain.v

He is excited about his involvement with the Rosemead/Monrovia team, because “The staff is a true team and works so well with each other while focusing on their service to the community.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

In addition to working within The Joint model, Dr. Andrew continues to work at a private clinic in West Covina… but going much further back he also worked for In-N-Out and as a chiropractic assistant at Chiropractic BioPhysics.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family and his hobbies include wrestling and drawing.

One of coolest and proudest things he has ever done was overcome his fear of heights… by skydiving! According to Dr. Andrew the one thing you will always find in his fridge is “ice cold high quality H20,” because for so many reasons it’s just so important to stay hydrated!

He says that his ideal dinner party would comprise of Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, David Spade, and Kid Cudi, because “I’m a huge fan of their work and love to laugh… I think it would be an immensely entertaining evening!”

Dr. Ivan Semerdjiev, D.C. is a Chiropractor at Monrovia

Dr. Ivan Semerdjiev attended the University of California Irvine where he earned his undergraduate degree in 2004 while studying Neuroscience and Philosophy. He went on to start his Doctor of Chiropractic at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles but completed his degree from Southern California University of Health Sciences graduating in 2011. He initially joined The Joint Chiropractic family of healthcare providers in 2016 and has worked out of many locations in southern California including: Chula Vista, Carmel Mountain, Mission Viejo, Brea, Downey, South Gate, Pico Rivera, Culver City, Riverside, Sierra Lakes, and Pasadena-East. Dr. Ivan joined the Rosemead/Monrovia team, full time, in January 2024.

Dr. Ivan seemed destined to become a doctor, but perhaps just not the kind he first envisioned. When he was in the process of applying to medical schools, he himself developed neck pain. His sister forced him to go see her chiropractor. That visit was life changing for him and he walked out of his treatment feeling lighter, taller, and happier. He was amazed at how much impact one could make with just their hands and realized immediately what kind of doctor he wanted to become. A week later he was in chiropractic school. After 13 years practicing, Dr. Ivan feels the best things about being in the chiropractic field, “are getting to see miracles happen every day and seeing the impact in a patient’s face when they get up from the adjusting table.”

A product of Southern California (Orange County), Dr. Ivan grew up in Costa Mesa, California. Prior to pursuing his passion in chiropractic, he enjoyed helping people through real estate. In his spare time, he enjoys focusing on his own self-improvement, video games, motorcycles, playing with his 6yo daughter (Roxie), and spending quality time with the rest of his family (wife Roxanne, 26yo son Bryan, their bird Sylvestra, and their 2 dogs (Stalone and Russ).

Dr. Ivan is well versed with Diversified and Gonstead adjusting techniques; is comfortable with infant care; can provide prenatal and postnatal care; is knowledgeable in neuroscience and subluxation-based nutrition; is experienced in treating a wide range of ailments including (but not limited to) arthritis, sciatica, neck pain, migraines, upper and lower back pain. In addition, he is familiar with NAET, ART, SOT, NET, and Graston.

Dr. Ivan is excited about his involvement with the Rosemead/Monrovia team, because “The management team truly cares about improving their patients’ and employees’ quality of life… they are very focused on our individual growth and how we can be better versions of ourselves and how we can provide a better experience every day.”

In Case You Didn’t Know

One of his fondest and proudest accomplishments was helping a patient, that had massive chronic pain and could barely walk, not only get back on their feet but get them well enough to be running Spartan races and competing in Muy Thai boxing in under 6 months.

According to Dr. Ivan, his “must have” he always has stocked in his refrigerator are eggs, because “they are simple to prepare, good for you, and are essential for my breakfast.”

He says that his ideal dinner party would comprise of Nicola Tesla, Jim Lee, Walt Disney, Geraint Ellis Rees because I believe it would lead to productive and entertaining conversation.
