Dr. Duane A. Thomas, D.C. was born in Oakland, Ca, and grew up in Placentia, Ca. He was introduced to distance running by his older brother while in junior high school which began his lifelong passion for fitness, athletics and healthy lifestyle. He had a highly decorated cross country and track career, competing at the junior high, high school and colligate levels. It was because of his highly competitive running career that he was first introduced to the performance enhancing benefits of regular chiropractic care. During his junior year in high school, he made the decision to pursue a career in chiropractic.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1987 at the age of 25. While attending chiropractic school Dr. Thomas was highly active in student government including holding the offices of student body president, secretary and student member of the college board of regents. He received many student awards and was selected by his fellow students to be a keynote speaker at his graduation. He commuted to school daily on his bicycle and was often known to put in 50 miles prior to attending daily classes.
In 1988 Dr Thomas founded his chiropractic practice in Yorba Linda, Ca where he soon grew a reputation for his ability to successfully treat athletes for their injuries and return then quickly to competition. He has had the privilege of working with hundreds of athletes throughout his career including NHL hockey players, Olympic gold medalists and a future 2-time super bowl champion.
When he is not practicing at The Joint Chiropractic, Dr Thomas travels the country consulting chiropractors, medical doctors and patients on the latest innovations in natural healthcare such as nutrition, regenerative medicine, neuropathy care and stem cell therapy. He has given nearly 3,000 public lectures on natural health topics across the united states.
He currently lives in Huntington Beach, Ca with his beautiful Brazilian born wife, Rosangela. They have four highly successful adult children, Dalton, Logan, Nicole and Anthony. He and his wife share a passion for international travel which has taken them to many exotic locations including Cuba. Dr Thomas is also a professional action sports photographer.
Dr Thomas enjoys working at The Joint Chiropractic because it provides him with a stress-free environment in which he can share his passion for the health benefits of regular chiropractic care and healthy lifestyle choices. He is known for his welcoming, positive and empathetic personality. He is passionate about improving the well-being of his patients using natural methods.
Dr. Randy S. Higashi was born in Laredo, Texas. He grew up in a Military family and was able to travel during the 20 years his father served in the U.S. Airforce.
Dr Higashi also served two 8-year terms completing a total of 16 years in the U.S. Army, after enlisting straight from high school. He served his Active Duty in Germany and later returned to the United States and served his remaining time in Los Alamitos, California in the U.S Army Reserve. He was awarded two Honorable discharges for his services as an enlisted soldier in the U. S. Army.
Dr Higashi also enjoys hobbies such as working out at the gym, martial arts, golf and traveling in the United States and abroad.
Dr. Higashi completed his undergraduate studies in Arizona, and then pursued his Chiropractic Graduate Studies at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC). During his years in graduate school he was very involved in student activities, ASB, and worked as a Gym monitor overseeing the weight room and other activities for LACC. Dr. Higashi was also awarded an "Outstanding Services Award" for his dedication to the school and its students.
Dr. Higashi currently lives in Whittier, California with his wonderful and beautiful wife, Esther and his three amazing children (son and 2 daughters), Randy Jay, Paulina, and Marissa. Randy Jay has been accepted to UC Santa Barbara for his first year in college pursing, a Biology Major and Paulina is a Senior at Cal High and, also Marissa which will now be a Freshman at Cal High.
Dr. Higashi enjoys working THE JOINT chiropractic clinics, interacting with new patients, and educating them on the benefits of chiropractic care and how routine, preventive care can create a positive healthy outcome is a person’s lifestyle no matter when they begin.
