Improve Your Health in One Minute!

Being healthy is something that should always be in the back of your mind, but it’s also not something you have to devote every minute of every day to. Sometimes one minute is all you need to adopt a new habit that is good for your body and overall health. Even just a few tweaks to your routine can make a big difference in your health and wellness!

Sunscreen

When you’re outside you apply sunscreen (right?), but do you apply it to all the places you need to? Take a few seconds and slap some of that sunblock on your ears. That way, you can protect your ears from a certain type of skin cancer that they are more prone to developing called nonmelanoma skin cancer. It may not be deadly, but it is fast growing and can result in muscle and nerve injury. Plus, abnormal looking spots on the ears are hard to see – it’s not like you have a good vantage point! So cover those ears, too!

Reevaluate Your Goals

Take a look at your life and think about what you can change this very minute that can take you closer to reaching them. Say you want to get more exercise into your day. Well, download an exercise app that can help or text a friend and invite them to an exercise class with you to keep you accountable. Sometimes taking the first step is the hardest – so just do it!

Floss

You can be honest – when was the last time you flossed? Many people do great in the brushing department but when it comes to flossing it’s a different story. You should be flossing every day to help keep your teeth and gums healthy. If you have gum disease, it can actually impact the health of your heart, so floss for heart health!

Plank

The plank only needs to be done for a minute or less in order to reap the benefits. They’re a great exercise for engaging the muscles in the lower back and abs, helping to strengthen them and avoid injury. Start with a 20-second plank and work your way up every day from there!
