3 Signs Your Relationship is Healthy

Well, there are infinite ways to create a beautiful romance. But it's important we understand the basics of a healthy relationship in order to judge whether or not it serves our well-being. This can be difficult, and even more so if we've experienced or grown up with bad relationships in the past. Below are three signs your relationship is strong and healthy!

You Have a Strong Sense of Trust

As they say, if you don't have trust, you don't have much! Trust can look and feel different depending on the couple. Nevertheless, it is a crucial part of maintaining a healthy relationship.  Your partner is supposed to be somebody who understands your vulnerability. But these sacred parts of ourselves can only be revealed in spaces we feel safe and secure. In order to feel safe and secure, we must first develop trust. This can take time to build, but the journey towards this destination can often be a beautiful one.

You Encourage Each Other to Grow

One of the most significant elements of a healthy relationship is understanding we all change over time. And we're meant to! We're meant to improve our character, to refine who we once were. Being in a  relationship will not alter this fact. Therefore, we must support the growth of our partners, and vice versa! As difficult as it can be, if you aren't growing together, you may end up growing apart.

You Are Accepting of Each Other's Pasts

As important as this is, it can be easier said than done depending on the circumstance. Sometimes it's a fact of life that the person who we were before may not have been as favorable as we hoped. For example, what if we or our partner was unfaithful in a past relationship? But now, we recognize why this particular situation happened and discovered what was missing within ourselves? In order to love and be loved properly, we must accept not only who our partners are and want to be, but who they once were.

Relationships are one of the greatest gifts we can receive. Loving another person with our entire selves is a skill we continue learning as we get older. For as often as we fantasize about love and its wonders, it's important to know the signs of when we've got it right. Because then, we discover new ways to become a better person.
