How to Begin Loving a Jog
By Virginia Laird
There are times when working out indoors can seem to get monotonous. These are the times which many may begin to think how nice it would be to get outside and jog. However, if you do not enjoy jogging the thought of a lengthy run can be traumatic. Fitness gurus advise that loving a long jog can be a self-taught idea. Furthermore, it is suggested that this can be done over a short period of time. If you are ready to begin enjoying time spent hitting the trail, take the advice of the professionals. A few tips they suggest to help you begin to love your time jogging includes:
- Start with small distances
- Stretch before you begin
- Charge your devices
Start with Small Distances
There is no need to be in a hurry to get miles accomplished. Fitness experts advise that running more than you are mentally and physically ready to do can simply prevent you from enjoying your jog. It is a better idea to begin with short distances. For those beginning, it is advised to start with a mile or less. This can allow the body time to adjust to a new workout without causing too much of a struggle.
Stretch Before You Begin
Although you may skip out on stretching as you hit the gym, it is necessary to make this a priority prior to pounding the pavement outdoors. Fitness professionals advise that skipping this step can lead to injury. Rather than falling victim to such injury and pain, it is advised that you spend a few minutes prior to each jog stretching your body.
Charge Your Devices
If you are like me, it can be battle to jog for very long without the help of music with a good beat to help along the journey. And from personal experience, I know how upsetting it can be to have your devices die before you complete your workout. For this reason, it is imperative that you charge all the devices you need to enjoy your music along your jogging route. These may include your phone, headphones, etc. While you are checking these devices you may need to check your playlist to make certain you have some great, pace-keeping music downloaded and ready.
Now find a jogging location which offers a few beautiful scenes of nature and let your journey begin.
