3 Quick and Easy Ways to Get Exercise Every Morning
By Genevieve Cunningham
The thought of exercise in the morning sounds like torture to a lot of people. They just don't feel like they have the energy or the desire to exercise first thing. It's not appealing in the slightest. But morning exercise comes with a lot of advantages including more energy, faster calorie burn -- and getting it over with! So how can you find a happy medium if you're not a fan of morning exercise? It's easier than you think. If you want to get in a quick exercise in the morning hours, take a look at these workouts that can get the job done.
Go for a Walk
For most people, walking doesn't really feel like exercise. It can actually be incredibly relaxing and soothing. But walking is also a great workout! It burns calories and works the muscles and encourages overall better health. If you want to exercise in the morning without feeling too taxed, consider simply throwing on some shoes and taking a walk. You can do this in your backyard, around the block, at the local park, or at the gym if need be. Walking is good for mind, body, and soul, so consider it a great way to start your morning and boost your health.
Do a Quick Yoga Session
Yoga can be a calming way to get in your exercise. A good yoga class is both challenging and relaxing to body and mind. You'll learn deep breathing, self-discipline, muscle control, and perseverance. It's hard -- but it also feels good. If you're motivated enough, you can probably find an early morning yoga class at your local gym. But if not, you can also just search the internet and do it in your living room. With yoga in the morning, you may find that your health and your overall mental condition improves like never before.
Lunge or Squat
Both lunges and squats are good for the body as a whole -- but most especially the bottom half of your body. If you want to get in a workout without spending too much time in your mornings, consider simply lunging from one place to the next, and then doing a few squats before completing a task. So you may lunge from the bedroom to the coffee pot, do five squats, and then make coffee. Then you'll lunge to the table or the bathroom or wherever you go next. Sure, it might feel a little silly, but it's an easy way to exercise without too much thought or effort, and yet the impact will still be powerful.
Mornings are a weird time of day. Some people love them, and others are far less keen on the early morning hours. But no matter where you stand or how you personally feel about the mornings, there's no doubt that this time of day can be incredibly useful. Use the morning to help you get fit and improve your health, and you may be able to create healthy habits that last a lifetime.
