Facebook Names San Diego the ""Marathon City""

Congratulations San Diego! Facebook has named you one of the fittest cities in the US!  Based on a study of the most common fitness-related posts on the biggest social media site there is, Facebook has named San Diego the “Marathon City."

The Rock N Roll Marathon generates a lot of buzz on Facebook which is a great thing not only for the city, but for the whole world. This Marathon brings approximately 30,000 athletes a year who want to try their hands (and legs and hearts) at one of the most difficult physical, emotional and mental feats humanity has ever come up with. Many residents wait along the sidelines and the finish line of this massive showing of competitors to cheer their families and friends. The marathon is certainly a huge boost to the San Diego economy, but even more importantly, the people who participate in this gargantuan event are at the heart of this inspiration to the nation. This gathering of fitness-lovers consistently reminds the rest of America what it means to work hard, to strive beyond what seems possible and to accomplish a dream. Man, that’s got to feel good.

America is on its way to a healthier culture and San Diego should be proud to be one of the nation’s fitness leaders. The Rock N Roll marathon and half marathon will be coming around again in June 2014. This should give you just enough time to get out there and start training!  Just be sure to consult your doctor first. A Marathon is no joke and no easy task. The more you know about your own body’s limitations and capabilities, the better-prepared you will be.

Again, great job San Diego! Keep up the good work!
