3 Tools to Help You Get More Sleep
By Genevieve Cunningham
If you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re probably sick of it. Most people who suffer from insomnia wouldn’t wish the condition on their worst enemy. It’s miserable to lose sleep. It’s exhausting and stressful and frustrating. Unfortunately, many people are in the insomnia boat. Finding sleep is just difficult sometimes, especially in the fast-paced world in which we live. So what can we do? It’s possible that the insomnia from which you suffer is all in your approach to rest. If you need to get a little more sleep, take a look at these tools to give a try today.
Blackout Curtains
Light can be tricky when it comes to sleep. For some people, light doesn’t make any difference. But for others, even the smallest bit of light stimulates the eyes and brain and keeps them awake. If you suspect that light is keeping you from sleeping, try installing some blackout curtains. These are thick, dark curtains that reduce the light from outside. When you turn off the light overhead, the room is just about pitch dark. And while this can be startling at first, many find the darkness soothing to their sleeping patterns and they get more rest as a result.
Eye Mask
An eye mask can also help with the darkness, but it also helps you keep your eyes closed. When you put on an eye mask, it applies a gentle pressure to your eyes. This forces you to keep your eyes closed, which is half the battle in getting more sleep. And of course, it creates an additional darkness to make it feel more like night and help you get even more sleep.
Oil Diffusers
Smell is a powerful tool. If you haven’t tried it yet, consider using smells to help you sleep. This might include burning a candle or using an oil to create a particular scent in your room. A calm and relaxing smell might help lull you to sleep. If you’re hesitant, keep in mind that aromatherapy is powerful. Give it a try with an open mind and it just may help you find the sleep you need.
You need more sleep. You need it for both physical and mental well-being. And you also need it so that you can feel better every day. A lack of sleep is miserable! Use these tools to help you get a little more sleep in your life and you may begin to see an improvement in sleep, a rise in energy, and a boost in your quality of life as soon as today.
