3 Nighttime Habits That Make the Next Day Better
By Genevieve Cunningham
Mornings. If we’re being honest, most people find the mornings to be one of the toughest parts of the day. We don’t want to get out of bed. We don’t want to go to work. We’re tired, grumpy, and not at all ready for the day’s events. Sound familiar? If so, rest assured that you’re not alone. Mornings are tough, and a bad morning can set a negative tone for the rest of the day. But what if there were a way to make it easier? If you’re looking to improve your mornings, take a look at these three nighttime habits that can help start the next day off on the right foot.
Pick Out Your Clothes
Don’t wait until the morning to determine what you’re going to wear for the day. Plan ahead. Check the weather, find your clothes, lay out your shoes and accessories. And do all of this the night before. When you wake up in the morning, it’s just one less thing that you have to think and stress about. You may not like this habit at first, but as you get used to the routine, you may find that the lower stress in the morning is worth the tiny added effort at night.
Prep Your Meals
Since you’re already planning ahead, go ahead and prep your meals the night before, too. What will you be having for breakfast? If it’s possible, fix it and put it in the refrigerator. If it needs to be cooked in the morning, gather all of the ingredients and put them together. Do the same for your snacks and lunch. The more prepared you are, the easier the morning runs, and the better tone you’re sitting for the rest of the day.
Go to Bed Earlier
It doesn’t sound appealing, but going to bed earlier can make a big difference. When we stay up too late at night, it automatically starts the day off on the wrong foot. Skip the late night TV. Skip the browsing for hours on your phone. Get ready for bed, read a book or engage the brain for a few minutes, and then go to sleep! The more rest you get, the better your health will be, and the better you’re going to feel on a day-to-day basis.
It’s not impossible to start the day off well. It might take practice or new habits, but it’s absolutely something that you can accomplish. Use these little tips to get you moving in the right direction, and make your mornings one of the best parts of the day.
