It's Time to Season Your Bath!
By Donna Stark
It doesn't matter where your stress comes from. The only thing that does matter is that you take the necessary steps to address it, and retreating to your bathtub after a particularly stressful day is one great way to do that. But sitting in a tub filled only with water may not do the trick. Just like a burger without any toppings, a bath without any "seasonings" is bland, boring, and so not up to par. If you want to give yourself a treat and truly melt the day's stressors away, keep reading! Here's what a seasoned bath can do for you.
Green Tea
You've read over and over again that drinking green tea can benefit your overall health and wellness, but have you heard that it can do the same when added to your hot bath? Just a few tea bags tossed into your bath can help detox your skin, soothe your mind, and relax your body. And with their anti-aging properties, you've got even more benefits to look forward to!
Epsom Salts
If stress has caused your muscles to become tense and sore or if you want to reduce inflammation, toss some Epsom salts into your water. You will need at least a cup or two of salts and you should wait until they are dissolved to get in, but after soaking for 15 minutes, you will begin to feel like your old self again.
Lavender
Maybe you already spray lavender mist on your pillows for a restful night of sleep or use lavender-filled sachets to place in the dresser drawers, but have you thought about using its essential oils for your bath? Lavender is the perfect for helping you relax after a stressful day, reducing muscle soreness, and detoxifying the skin.
Olive Oil
It may be time to pull your olive oil out of the pantry and put it in your bathroom instead. Adding a couple of tablespoons to your bath can help soothe and moisturize your skin, but just be sure to watch how much you put it! You don't want to feel like an antipasto salad when you finally hop out of the tub.
Citrus
Grab some slices of fresh citrus or save the peels and add them to your bathwater. This is a great way to revive a tired body, refresh your skin, and calm your mind. There is nothing sweeter than a citrus filled bath!
Bath Time Is Bliss
It's time to get rid of those boring baths! Grab your favorite book, light some candles, and spice your bath up with the suggestions above. Whatever "seasoning" you choose, you are sure to experience relaxation like never before!
