What I’ve learned after going to The Joint for over a year and trying the Grenada Hills, Van Nuys and North Hollywood locations, along with a location in Minnesota and Colorado is: INCONSISTENCY For what I’m paying, I do have realistic expectations. If you want more customized care, then it understandably will be a greater investment. However, the spectrum of care at The Joint is too broad in my opinion and leads to me feeling disappointed. One day, I’ll receive a proper 15 minute adjustment where the chiropractor does a thorough body scan to see what is out of balance, uses confident but gentle touch, and eases my body into each adjustment so I don’t feel like I’ve been aggressively contorted. The next day, the chiropractor won’t even feel my back before adjusting, excludes the helpful adjustments that I typically receive so that I have to ask for them specifically and two minutes later, I’m out the door. Yes — everyone will have different styles, but I think there should be a better baseline of care (especially when it comes to working with the spine).

Reception was great However Dr. Bystrom is very unpleasant, with a condescending bad side manner and really not a professional at his job. His adjusting methods are aggressive and lacking basic treatment areas, as well as guidance to the patient. For a person who has no experience this might look like good work, sadly, it’s far from it. My nephew Joe sent me to you all because I had a lot of pain in my sciatica. My English is not very well and I explain to the doctor what is happening. They did not want to work on me and they told me I am better off to use my Medi-Cal/insurance. I am shocked and in disbelief that they did not even try to help me. One of your workers with a blonde pony tail was directly in front of the entrance to Chipolte on Burbank and Van Nuys Blvd smoking a cigarette. She could not have been more than 5 feet from the door. Cigarette smoke spoiling the air outside and being sucked into the restaurant. Not only that, guess what she does with the butt? Drops it on the ground! I would give 0 stars but it’s not an option. They have been charging me for 3 months and I haven’t been there all those 3 months when I signed up the lady never told me I had to come in and cancel. She said after two months it would be canceled since that’s how long I wanted it for. I have been coming here since when they 1st opened. All the doctors from Dr Fish when he was here til now w/Dr. Bystrom are well versed at what they do. I'm pretty active, surf, snowboard & bike so I need they care they provide in order to keep my machine running. The friendly staff always gets me checked in promptly for my adjustments. They also have locations in other states & have used their services in Portland OR, a big plus in my book. Affordability is key as well. I just called this location to ask them to cancel the charges on my bank account since I haven't been able to utilize it for most of this year. The girl who took my call was incredibly hostile toward me. She stated that I have to come into a store to fill out papers that have my medical records encrypted on the paper in order to cancel my membership! WHAT?? I simple asked her to please email me the cancelation form and she she they cant do that..WOW What a horrible person and company! I will never go back or refer anyone ever again! One thing I don't appreciate from the front desk is an inaccurate wait time. Don't tell people 15 mins when you know there is a hour wait. I think they should have a designated person who treats new patients as the wait takes longer. Each new patient takes at least 30 mins and when you have 2 new patients and each doctor takes one your wait time gets longer. I am definitely not going to renew my plan once this one is over. I also don't like the fact you never see the same doctor. It's always some one new so it's hard for them pin point your actual problems and concerns.

A few months ago I woke up in a lot of pain. By the end of the day I couldn't lift my arm and my left shoulder seemed to be frozen. When I first started coming to The Joint in October 2015, I was experiencing hip pain that I couldn't explain. My doctor said I might have to get physical therapy or even surgery eventually. Due to sitting all day, the alignment of the back could present a problem. However, The Joint will help alleviate this problem. One leg being shorter than the other can be solved. A common fallacy is that one does not need to attend a chiropractor until an accident occurs. This is a misconception. Please go to The Joint before it is too late. I came here for two reasons. I have a numb toe from a previous injury and I have persistent neck pain from sitting at a desk all day. The doctors here have been very kind and understanding. I was so skeptical about a walk-in walk-out chiropractor. I didn't feel they would get to know me or even remember me! Such a 360! I never write reviews but anyone who is having back pain will benefit from this review. Two months ago my back locked up after a workout. I went to the doctor, went to physical therapy and had massage. Therapy done for two months. I still couldn't stand up straight, walk for more than one hour and had to miss work. I've never been to a chiropractor before, until now. After my very first visit in December 2017, Dr. Patel did an adjustment and I could stand up straight, walk and had no pain! I had been running and felt some pain in my SI joint. I ignored it and after a couple of weeks, I was laid out, unable to walk or even get out of bed without help. Dr. Jay Bystrom is the best chiropractor that I have ever had! I have been seeing chiropractors since I was 22 years old (a pretty long time ago).
