Summer Is the Time to Relax!
By Donna Stark
The summer season generally brings feelings of relaxation and peace, but for many people, the next couple of months are far from that. Summer has turned from what once was a time to wind down to days filled with multiple activities and obligations. If your summer season is busier than ever, perhaps the thing you need most in your life isn't the fear of missing out but rather the joy of missing out. Here are some tips on how you can slow down and relax more in the weeks ahead.
Make a To-Do List
Writing everything you would like to accomplish during the summer on a to-do list is a great way to stay on top of what needs to get done and to stay organized. Do you want to focus on home improvement projects? Losing weight? Or earning some extra money? Figure out what steps will need to be taken in order to reach your goals and check them off as you complete them.
Share the Responsibility
Speaking of to-do lists, if your list is growing by the day with sports, day camps, and playdates, you may end up losing focus on what's important and spreading yourself too thin. It's OK to stop juggling everything on your own and to ask for help when needed. Can you join a carpool for your children's practices? Can you share the responsibility of entertaining children with a neighbor? Try to find the areas in your life where you can benefit from some extra help.
Say No More Often
It's perfectly OK to say no to some of the events you are invited to, especially if the same people will be at each one. Doing what is best for you and your family should be your major priority. Besides, spending more time alone and at home will help to strengthen the bonds with the people who matter the most.
Invest in a Staycation
You don't need to travel the world and spend a ton of money while vacationing with your loved ones. Sometimes, a staycation can be more fun! Whether you hang out at a local resort or stay at home and take daily excursions, you will be sure to have the time of your life! Just be sure to do it right! Add some restaurant meals to your staycation budget so you can take some time off from cooking!
Time to Relax!
Don't stress yourself out over fearing what you may be missing this summer. Instead, find the joy in doing less! Who knows? With the suggestions above, you may be able to create your most fun summer yet!
