Is Your Musculoskeletal System Healthy?
By Sara Butler
Your musculoskeletal system does a lot more for you than you may realize. It's a large body system, made up of tendons, joints, bones, ligaments, bones, and connective tissue. When something isn't functioning correctly in the system, then you can end up with issues that take you to the chiropractor, such as back pain, osteoporosis, arthritis, and other issues.
Keeping your musculoskeletal system healthy is important. That's why the chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic have come up with a few tips to help ensure your musculoskeletal system is being taken care of and thriving.
Move Your Body
Movement is very important to your overall health because it's so important to the health of your musculoskeletal system. Your bones, joints, and muscles all need to stay moving in order to be healthy. That's why the National Institutes of Health recommend that every person get about 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. Moderate exercise includes things such as walking, swimming, riding a bike, or even working in your garden. If you prefer more intense exercise, then 75 minutes per week of higher-intensity activity such as basketball or jogging will suffice.
Eat a Healthy Diet
Your musculoskeletal system needs proper nutrition to ensure that it can work at its very best. You should focus on balancing your diet with whole grains, lean protein, and fresh fruits and vegetables for the best result. It's also important to limit processed foods such as chips and cake and ensure you drink enough water each day to stay hydrated and keep your joints and muscles moving smoothly.
Get Plenty of Rest
Your body uses the time you're asleep to rebuild and rejuvenate. Getting enough sleep each night ensures that your body can recover from the day and repair its joints and muscles that were put through their paces during the day.
Go to the Chiropractor
Chiropractic care can help you to nip any musculoskeletal issues you may experience in the bud with regular chiropractic adjustments. These adjustments help to relieve muscle imbalances that can lead to issues down the road. Regular adjustments also help to treat any issues you may already experience related to your musculoskeletal system, such as herniated discs, sprains and strains, or inflammation of the tendons.
Taking care of your musculoskeletal system should be a priority so let the chiropractors at The Joint help you to care for it the right way.
