How to Plan Your Summer
By Randi Morse
I'm a bit of an introvert so it doesn't bother me to spend time stuck indoors. Even I will admit that the last few months before summer gets a little tedious. Are you dealing with cabin fever right now? It's pretty common to experience cabin fever right before spring hits, but there are a few things you can do that can help you beat back cabin fever.
Plan a vacation - When was the last time you and your family went on vacation? We tend to put so much emphasis on working hard that we forget to spend time enjoying the fruits of our labor. Take these last few months before the summer hits and plan a vacation. I like to plan a couple of different types of vacations, ones that I can reasonably afford and ones that are completely currently unreachable. When you plan the affordable vacation you'll get a good idea as to how much money you will need to set aside to make your vacation plans come true. Use the summer months to set aside that amount of money and you will have a fantastic trip to look forward to in the fall or next winter.
Plan a garden - How about using this time to plan your garden? If you have had a garden before, this is a great time to think about the things that worked in your last garden and the things that didn't, and to figure out if you want to expand your garden. If you have never had a garden, you can take these few months to learn a bit more about gardening and what plants or flowers will work well in your temperate zone. You can even draw up plans for a vegetable garden. Some vegetables grow better planted next to others, so grab some graphing paper and plan out your perfect vegetable garden.
Plan the future - Every summer my family and I come up with what we call the summer bucket list. Summer only lasts so long, so having a list allows us to remember everything we want to do during those warm and sunny months. Take the time now to get your family together and write up a list of summer activities you want to ensure that you do.
Take these last few months before the weather turns and get together your summer plans. The more organized you are, the more you can enjoy lounging in the sun.
