Let Nature Be Your Guide to Health

By Tom Herrin

As people get themselves so busy in all of the activities they tend to do, taking time to step back and get away from it all can be a simple recipe for improving health.  Most people have done some kind of camping in their lives, even if it was just in the backyard.  Whether it is getting away as a child or finding sanctity as an adult, connecting with nature can be a good way to get back to basics.  It seems to have a way to tune out many of the distractions that people deal with every day as they struggle to make a living and make sense of just what is going on in the world.  Spending time in the outdoors and taking in the natural settings may be able to do far more than anything otherwise imagined.  Camping may be just the ticket they need.

It May Help People Become Doers

Living in a world in which almost everything is available to watch or look at can tend to make people extremely complacent.  When people get outdoors and camp, it is pretty difficult to avoid moving around and becoming more active.  Even short strolls can turn into much more activity than most normally do.  One can't keep from moving around and observing as they explore just what is out there.  These little bits of exercise can cause a change that can carry over into other things.

It May Help Reduce Inflammation

While it may seem a bit strange to consider, spending time outdoors has shown some potential to reduce inflammation.  Inflammation is known to add to some health issues such as heart disease, some cancers, and diabetes.  Anything that can help to reduce this should be considered a good thing.  Whatever the reason, spending time outdoors has shown some positive effects on oxidative stress.  This can be an easy way to deal with this problem.

Do Yourself a Favor

Making time to get out and enjoy the outdoors camping can be a great stress reliever.  You don't have to travel all that far to find the right place.  There all kinds of public and private campgrounds, most of which are relatively inexpensive.  Meals can be simple as well.  Some of the best times I had growing up were spending time with my dad camping and eating fried bologna and crackers.  It is usually a matter of enjoying one another's company and the outdoors at the same time.  It may be a great way to boost health.
