Dr. Michael Gubnitsky, clinic lead, was born and raised in New Jersey, where he completed his B.S. in biology at Upsala College, a private college no longer in existence. For the next 9 years, he trained and raced standard-bred harness race horses and, a hobby of flying, working his way up to his multi-engine commercial instrument rating. The horse stable work turned out to be grueling 16 hour days and after experiencing a trip to the chiropractor (and seeing a chiropractic horse adjustment) his eyes were open to a new career. In 1986, he graduated and received his D.C., Doctor Of Chiropractic degree from the prestigious, fountain head school, Palmer College of Chiropractic, where chiropractic was first born, in 1895.
Since then, Dr. Gubnitsky has practiced over 30 years, 1 year in South Carolina, 13 years in Florida, 13 years in Colorado and 5 years in the Texas. His hobbies include snow skiing and jogging.
Dr. Gubnitsky has a passion about chiropractic, watching patient lives transformed, through his work involving the nervous system with the premise of, "when there is nerve interference, it will ultimately affect the function of the nerve, and the function of wherever it goes." He has worked with patients as young as new born babies and patients up to and including age 98. “I have literally seen miracles,” says Dr. Gubnitsky, “with children’s fevers broken, ear infections cleared up, years of migraine headaches cleared up, bowel movements after days of constipation, a lady with foot drop gain control of her foot, and probably many others that were never reported.”
Dr. Gubnitsky’s mission, is in line with The Joint Chiropractic Place’s mission, “To improve the quality of life in our community through routine and affordable chiropractic care.”
Dr. Ashton-Boyd earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences, where he graduated with honors in 2011. He received his undergraduate degree in Human Biology from University of California, Irvine. Before switching to chiropractic, Dr. Ashton-Boyd was enrolled in the UC Irvine School of Medicine. His decision to focus on chiropractic demonstrates his strong commitment to the significant benefits to be gained from a preventive, natural, drug-free approach to pain management.
Dr. Ashton-Boyd has lived in California for the past 16 years. Prior to working at The Joint, he served as director of SMMC’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department.
“Back pain and discomfort are usually just an indicator, a symptom, of a more involved set of issues developed over time based on how people live their daily lives,” said Dr. Ashton-Boyd. “I firmly believe in the benefits of regular chiropractic adjustments as an effective tool that can deliver long-lasting benefits in each patient’s individual quest for increased mobility and wellness.”
