How to Get a Workout in 15 Minutes

By Genevieve Cunningham

Everyone is short on time. We live really busy lives, and having any extra time to do anything is hard. And this most definitely includes exercise. Because we are constantly rushing from activity to activity, we often put exercise on the back burner. Unfortunately, this approach is causing serious damage to our health and well-being. If you would like to stay fit, but you don’t seem to have the time to make it happen, take a look at these ways to get in a quick workout in only 15 minutes a day.

Running

It might seem like running should take a long time. But if you only have a few minutes, you can still get in a run. How? Just pick up the pace. If you jog for 20 minutes, sprint for 10. Sprinting is harder on the body anyway, and it can really get you in better shape. Run quickly, run hard, and run with purpose, and 15 minutes will be plenty of time.

Calisthenics

Jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, burpees. Do a quick set of various calisthenic moves. Take very small breaks in between, and give each set your absolute full attention and energy. At the end of 15 minutes, you’ll likely be sweating, breathing heavy, and feeling seriously worked.

Jump Rope

Jumping rope is hard. It’s likely much harder than you remember. It's fun and it's effective, but it is definitely a challenge. It’s actually possible that you won’t even be able to complete 15 minutes of jumping rope. Your legs will be wobbly and your lungs and muscles will be burning. By the time you’re done, you will be incredibly fatigued. You’ll be sore, exhausted, and jumping in a healthier direction.

Yoga

If you want something slightly less strenuous, try getting in a simple yoga routine. Even 15 minutes is enough to stretch your muscles, burn a few calories, and leave feeling incredibly refreshed. And you can do this anywhere! At home, in the office, or on the go, a yoga routine can happen anywhere.

If you’re short on time, you can still get in a solid workout that leads to better shape. Just set aside a simple 15 minutes and make a plan of action. With just a little time and focus, you can improve your health, lose weight, and get in the best shape of your life.
