Meet The Doctors
Dr. Brian Rist grew up in Normal, Illinois and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2011. Prior to joining The Joint as a doctor, he had his own practice as well as working in a fast paced Personal Injury clinic.
Dr. Brian’s interest in chiropractic started after taking a 20’ fall on a construction site as a young man and landing on his back on the concrete below. He saw a chiropractor after the incident and was amazed at what chiropractic could do for him and wanted to be able to help others in the same fashion. The way that chiropractic could work so quickly for him and made such a big difference in how he felt led him to be inspired to become a chiropractor himself.
In his personal life, Dr. Brian has a wife and stepson as well as a mix-breed dog that was found on the side of the road as a puppy. He is an avid boater and fisherman and enjoys taking his boat far out into the Gulf of Mexico to do some great fishing on his days off. Dr. Brian is also a Pit Master and enjoys smoking and grilling meat and has previously entered competitions as well.
When asked about one of his most memorable experiences, he recalled a trip in which he was driving alone from Florida to Alaska. One night, he was driving through Canada and saw the Northern Lights. He pulled over on the snow-covered road and there were no other cars or people anywhere to be seen. That night, he was the only person who got to see that particular gorgeous view and it is something that he says he will never forget.
Dr. Brian has been with The Joint Chiropractic in North Port since it opened in January 2022. He finds the entire team pleasant to work with and says that they all keep each other in a good mood which helps the day go by. He enjoys working with the patients and seeing the improvements they make by maintaining their wellness visits and helps them focus on posture correction, one of his specialties.
The best advice he has to give is, “To be early is on time, on time is late, and late is fired.”
Dr. Robbie L. Gattman, DC—known to his patients as Dr. Rob—joined The Joint Chiropractic in February 2025, serving the North Port, Port Charlotte, and Venice, FL, communities. With a background in chemistry from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan University, Dr. Rob brings a deep understanding of the body’s mechanics, specializing in scoliosis management, prenatal care, and the activator technique.
Dr. Rob's journey to chiropractic was personal—after 12 years of military service, he struggled with debilitating back pain for over a decade. Originally on the path to medical school, he found lasting relief through chiropractic care, a revelation that shifted his career focus. Realizing that many people suffer from chronic pain without knowing where to turn, he saw chiropractic as the key to true wellness. He left behind the traditional medical route and committed himself to helping others achieve a pain-free life through chiropractic care.
For Dr. Rob, the most rewarding part of being a chiropractor is helping patients break free from pain so they can live more fulfilling lives. He also values the personal connections he builds with people from diverse backgrounds, making every day in practice meaningful. One of his most satisfying moments is when a simple lifestyle adjustment—like modifying pillow height or bed firmness—brings a patient profound relief, reinforcing the importance of holistic care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Rob enjoys playing guitar and spending quality time with his four children—one son and three daughters—who all share his passion for Jiu-Jitsu. He believes in continuous learning and values deep conversations, a skill sharpened by his favorite book, The Road Less Traveled by Dr. Scott Peck. His philosophy on life? You can be the star or co-star of your own life. At The Joint Chiropractic, Dr. Rob is excited to work alongside fellow practitioners and make a lasting impact in his community.
