Work to Achieve These Health Goals
By Rachel Carver
Trying to lose weight is a common health goal. However, seeing a constantly fluctuating scale number can be frustrating and discouraging.
Dwelling on a scale number you do not like can lead you to be less active and start you on a path to unhealthy habits. However, focusing on different health goals can improve your overall physical, emotional, and mental health.
Strive to achieve some of these health goals.
Eat Healthy Foods
Filling up on produce will leave less room for foods you want to eat less of. Dedicate half of your plate to veggies, and eat a piece of fruit for breakfast. This approach removes the negative thoughts of foods you should give up and helps you choose healthier options.
Plan Physical Social Activities
An outing with friends usually involves food or alcohol. Get creative. Plan a physical activity you can look forward to. Sign up for a 5K and set a training schedule with a friend or family member. Sign up for a yoga class instead of going to happy hour, or pick up a new physical hobby such as swimming or cycling.
Find a Good Book
Many professionals give up fun reading. A reading habit can help you sleep better by giving you something relaxing to do before bedtime.
Learn to Say No
You choose how you spend your time. If you do not want to join a dinner party, you can say no. You can also turn down requests to organize an event or join a board. If you are not motivated to participate in something today, chances are you will not want to do it three months from now. You will find new opportunities when you prioritize your time. You will also have more energy and motivation to accomplish your goals. You should not feel guilty for having different interests and desires than others.
Drink More Water
Increasing your water intake can decrease the saturated fat, sugar, and sodium you consume. Invest in a fun water bottle and keep it filled. You can also drink sparkling water or pair water with a fruit slice to give you some variety.
