3 Possible Reasons Why Your Weight Just Won't Drop
By Genevieve Cunningham
From the very beginning, losing weight can be a discouraging task. We want to do it. We want to make change. But making it happen requires a fair amount of self-discipline and patience -- two things we're not anxious to practice. And when we're doing all we can and yet the weight isn't dropping, it becomes even more frustrating. The good news is that there's usually a reason for the stalled weight loss. If you're trying to lose and your weight just won't drop, take a look at these possible reasons why.
You're Under a Lot of Stress
Stress produces a hormone called cortisol. Though this is a natural hormone in the body, too much cortisol can cause excess weight gain -- especially around the middle. If you're trying to lose weight but haven't lowered your stress, this hormone may be preventing your weight from dropping. Deal with the stress first, and it's possible that the weight will quickly follow.
You've Lost Control of Your Calories
Counting calories is simple, but it's not easy. If you're not paying close attention, it's easy to get off track completely. Even one or two extra snacks per day can lead to hundreds of calories more than your normal consumption. And over the span of a week or a month, this can lead to weight gain -- or trouble losing current weight. If you've let your guard down when it comes to calories, start writing it down and counting each and every calorie, and your weight may finally reverse direction.
Your Sleep is Working Against You
The body can't function the way it's supposed to if it's not getting adequate rest. And this is where a lot of people really suffer. A lack of sleep is an incredibly common problem. Unknowingly to many, their insomnia problem actually leads to an inability to lose weight or possible weight gain. The body just can't cope with the exhaustion and the loss. Improve your sleep, and you improve your chances of finally losing the weight.
Losing weight is a necessary task for many, and unfortunately, it can feel really discouraging. But with the right information, you can improve your chances of losing weight and feeling successful. Check to see if these common situations are happening in your life, make the changes that are necessary, and feel good in your own skin as your weight falls to a healthy level.
