Did Getting up Wrong Cause Back Pain?

By Tom Herrin

Have you heard the expression about getting up on the wrong side of the bed?  While it may just seem like an old saying, there may be a little something to it.  It is not so much the getting up as it is how you get up.  Particularly with the tall size beds today, anything is possible.  I actually had that experience having gotten up one morning as usual.  The bed is a little tall and, as my feet hit the floor, I found myself unable to straighten up.  I ended up with severe back pain.  If you are caught by surprise by back pain, do what I did, pay a visit to a chiropractor for fast relief.

The Back Carries a Lot

In my case, I obviously stepped wrong and found myself hanging onto the wall as I tried to make my way down the hall.  An awkward step may cause the muscles that support the spine to become strained.  This makes them fail in their ability to do their job.  With no support, a joint dysfunction may occur in which pressure is placed on a nerve causing pain.  It may be a terrific pain with no reprieve.  In my case, I could barely walk.  Pain medication may only provide a very temporary break.

Chiropractors Are Good at Finding the Problem

When you go to a chiropractor with back pain, you will likely be given an adjustment in which the spine is gently manipulated so that the injured joint is restored to its optimal position.  This can take the pressure off of the nerve and relieve the pain.  Since it is all done naturally, no pain medication is used.  There is no risk of addiction or side effects.  Recovery is often faster and a return to regular daily activities may happen sooner.  For many, it can be the beginning of a healthy new lifestyle.

Many Choose Regular Visits
