Are You Over Being Sick? 4 Tips You Need
By Virginia Laird
By the end of flu season, like everyone else, you are likely to be completely done with being sick. While staying healthy and well is not as simple as making a decision to do so, there are a few things you can do to help increase your chances of fighting off illness. Health and wellness experts have put together a list of things you can do to help keep the germs away. A few of their tips include:
- Keep sanitizer handy
- Clean your home often
- Stay hydrated
- Wash before re-wearing
Keep Sanitizer Handy
Health and wellness experts highly recommend that you keep hand sanitizer around at all times. Hand sanitizer is not better than traditional soap and water. However, it is better than nothing at all. Because your hands are busy touching a variety of surfaces throughout the day, they also are more vulnerable to collecting a host of germs. Make sure you keep hand sanitizer in your bag at all times so that you can wipe away the germs.
Clean Your Home Often
According to research, there are many surfaces of your home where germs are collected. These include the kitchen and the bathroom. Health and wellness experts advise that these areas should be cleaned multiple times each day. Although it is not necessary that you deep clean these areas, it is imperative that you use a sanitizing spray or wipes to help remove germs more than once each day. Experts say that eliminating germs from these services can help you remain well and healthy.
Stay Hydrated
There is research to suggest that staying hydrated can help the body fight off illness. When the body is properly hydrated each system of the body can maintain proper function, including the immune system. Health and wellness experts say that the best way to remain properly hydrated is to track how much water you consume each day. It is suggested that you drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. Start tracking your water right away.
Wash Before Re-Wearing
While it can be extremely tempting to re-wear pajamas, sweatshirts and jeans before washing them, it is not a good practice. Rather, health and wellness experts say you should wash each item before wearing it again. Make sure you start making this a habit to help you stay well.
Now is the time to start taking a few extra steps to help you fight off illness.
