Feeling Good All Year Long
By Donna Stark
Have you ever wondered why it is so easy to find joy during the months that have holidays to celebrate and why it is so hard to feel good during the months of the year that don't? It can't all be about the decorations, music, and food, can it? After all, there is plenty of that throughout the rest of the year as well! So what is it? Well, maybe it has everything to do with intention and going out of your way to be joyful. If you want to feel a little more cheerful and connected to your loved ones right now, keep reading. The following suggestions may help you achieve the very same feelings you experience during the parts of the year that are filled with holiday joy.
Get Baking
Who says the day-long bake-a-thons have to only occur at the end of the year? Pull out your favorite cookie and pie recipes, grab your children, and tie on those aprons! Sure, the shape of the cookie cutters may need to be replaced, but everything else will be fine. And don't worry about baking too much! You can share your delicious treats at all the backyard barbecues you are invited to.
Get on the Road
You drove for hours during the holiday season to look at the beautifully decorated and lit homes, so why don't you pile everyone in the car and drive for hours now? Only instead of looking for inflatable snowmen and reindeer, keep an eye out for the sun, sand, and waves! A weekend road trip to the beach is a great way to spend some quality time with those you love!
Get to Those in Need
If you are able to offer your time or money, consider helping those in need. Charitable organizations are so grateful for the help they receive during the holiday season, but that need doesn't go away simply because the holidays have ended. Sit down with your family and choose an organization that could use a little bit of help and find a way to make an impact. The joy you will get from doing so is priceless!
Feeling Good All Year Long
Sure, certain times throughout the year are naturally more cheerful, peaceful, and happy, but that doesn't mean the other times can't be too! With some extra kindness, attention, and a little bit of planning, you and your loved ones can feel good whenever you want!
