3 Healthy Alternatives to Water

By Genevieve Cunningham

Drinking water is so easy and so hard. Quite the contradiction, I know. Water is the best beverage that a person can drink, but with its lack of flavor, many people find it difficult. Of course without water, your health greatly suffers. For those who can’t seem to get enough, check out these three healthy alternatives to getting enough of the good old H2O.

Flavored Water

With this option, you’re still technically drinking water, but with a lot more flavor. You can buy bottled water that has already been flavored for you. Strawberry, blueberry, watermelon ... take your pick! Another great option so to buy the flavored dry packets. You mix them in your water, and drink up. It’s seriously that easy. If you shop around, you can even find options that are sugar free and super low-calorie, so you won’t be sacrificing your health by adding a little flavor to your drink.

Green Tea

This is one of the healthiest teas that you can drink. It is full of antioxidants and boosts the body’s natural immunities. Of course, green tea is mostly water. You add a tea bag of tea leaves for the healthy aspects and the flavor. Sip on some green tea first thing in the morning, last thing at night, or anytime throughout the day that you feel stressed. Green tea has a calming property, so you’ll be gaining multiple healthy benefits by adding this one to the mix.

Vegetable Juice

Sorry, no fruit juice for you. While fruit juice is certainly more popular and tastes better, it also has a lot of calories and quite a bit of sugar. Instead of reaching for fruit juice, reach for vegetable juice instead. You can buy these pre-mixed at the grocery store, or you can buy the raw vegetables and mix them yourself with the help of a juicer. At first, vegetable juice might take some getting used to, but once you find the right combination, you’ll love the flavor and the health benefits that come along with it.

If you have a hard time drinking enough water, try out these healthy alternatives. Though many people find it boring, getting enough water is crucial for long term health. it can be so difficult for so many people, but don't give up!  Add some flavor and a little more fun to your beverages, and keep yourself healthy and hydrated for the best wellness.
