How to Have a Fit Valentine's Day
By Brandi Goodman
Valentine's Day sees many people indulging in chocolates and going out to eat at restaurants. It's hard to get exercise when you're bloated and overly full. Have a fit Valentine's Day instead for a more unique approach to the occasion. Here's how.
Give a Fitness Gift
Flowers and chocolates may be the typical Valentine's gifts to give but they're not the only options. You can still include them if you want, but give a fitness gift as well that the two of you can use together. A water bottle is a great start. Your love can bring it along on your date night. Either choose a cute design or create a personalized bottle filled with pictures of the two of you. The latter is sure to be a hit.
An interactive game the two of you can play at home is also a nice option. Yard games can be brought inside if it's cold or rainy but otherwise you can enjoy a match outdoors in the fresh air. Bean bag toss, ladder ball, or even a putt-putt game can be enjoyable with your loved one.
Plan a Fitness Date
The best way to incorporate fitness into your Valentine's Day is to plan the date. Make sure you and your date will be getting in plenty of exercise as you enjoy your time together. Lots of great options exist that can be romantic or just get the two of you close and working together. Trying something new can be fun, such as rock climbing. Just be sure to bring safety gear along.
Schedule a dance lesson. This can be romantic and fun. Make sure it's a beginner's class if neither of you have gone before. There may not be many locations to choose from in Decatur but roughly 20 minutes away in Atlanta there's plenty of options.
A romantic stroll along the beach or through the woods can also work well. The two of you can talk as you leisurely walk along the trail. It's a great mood booster that will also have you burning calories. It also gives you plenty of alone time and doesn't feel like you're exercising.
A fit Valentine's Day is possible if you put a plan into action. You don't have to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant or buy your loved one a box of chocolates to celebrate the holiday. Instead, have a fitness date that will bring the two of you even closer.
