Your Autumn Skin: A Guide for Women
By Brandi Goodman
The summer months are soon to be over and the autumn weather will set in for good. This means rain and cooler temperatures. There's no doubt that the skin can start to become troublesome for many women because of these changes. Your autumn skin requires a different care routine than was utilized during the summer season.
Get a Better Moisturizer
A lightweight moisturizer is often recommended during summer. Something better will be necessary for fall when the colder weather hits. A thick cream would do the trick for keeping the skin satisfied. You need to replenish some of the fatty acids lost due to dehydration and dryness. They are necessary for producing a natural oil barrier and keeping the skin properly hydrated.
Use a Humidifier
The air in your home can grow stale and dry. You need proper air circulation and moisture to maintain your skin's suppleness. Use a humidifier that can add some moisture to your air and keep your skin from drying out completely.
Try a Different Lotion
Summer lotion options vary from the ones offered in the fall. You'll often see light and refreshing scents such as cucumber melon or aloe vera to keep your skin nourished during the warm weather days. For the autumn season, try lotions reminiscent of fall offerings. A French vanilla, apple cider, or pumpkin spice scent can keep your skin healthy while also filling you with thoughts of the best parts of fall.
Don't Forget the Lips
Your lips may tend to chap easily once autumn arrives. The colder weather is harsh on this sensitive skin area. Don't forget about them when you're tackling your skin routine. You need to start using lip balm daily to prevent dry, cracked lips that look and feel sore. A non-petroleum based option is best.
Use a Hand Cream
The hands also tend to get dry and cracked in the cold weather. Rather than using the same body lotion you apply everywhere else, try a specific hand cream instead. It can help to keep the hands moisturized without them being left to feel wet or oily like some lotions do. Starting with a cream now can help you prevent such severe cracking as the cold weather commences.
Transitioning your skin solutions from summer to fall can take some getting used to. Women need to make some swaps so their skin can stay supple and smooth even in the wind and rain. The autumn season is a beautiful but drying one.
