How These 4 Different Detoxes Will Help Your Health

By Brandi Goodman

A detox is normally considered as a process used to eliminate toxic substances from your body. Though this is the main purpose, there are several kinds of detoxes that people can utilize. At least four different detoxes exist that can help your health in numerous ways.

Drug Detox

A common detox is one that eliminates alcohol, drugs, or other substances from the system. This is important for those who abuse substances and have done significant damage to their bodies. You should avoid using these things for a while so your liver has a chance to recuperate. Drink lots of water in the process.

Sugar Detox

Sugar can do serious harm to the body, yet so many people eat sugary snacks and consume beverages with the ingredient included on a daily basis. A sugar detox may be necessary if you find yourself craving sugar regularly, have a bloated gut, or have put on significant weight. You should avoid processed foods, soda pop, and snacks with a high sugar content. Make substitutions in your recipes for organic maple syrup and honey instead of using sugar bought by the bag. Options such as Stevia, a sweetener substitute, are available as well.

Social Media Detox

Social media is great for a lot of reasons -- but it can also have negative effects. If you find yourself using social media daily and comparing yourself to others, feeling bad about yourself, or having negative thoughts about the world we live in, then it may be time for a social media detox. Deactivate your accounts for a while, stay off the sites, and take some time to clear your mind. It can improve your mental health.

Chemical Detox

There are so many chemicals in things we use daily. Deodorant, cleaning products, shampoos, and more may contain more harmful ingredients than we realize. A chemical detox helps us to reduce the effects caused by these products. Switching to organic, environmentally-friendly, non-GMO cleaners and products is the first step. You'll need to drink plenty of water and switch to a healthy diet to curb the effects done inside the body as well.

You should regularly detox your mind and body if you hope to lead a healthy life with healthy habits. Relying on damaging things such as sugar, drugs, chemicals, and even social media at times can be extremely detrimental to your well-being.
