Dr. Andrea Mendez, D.C., was born and raised in Guatemala. She moved to the United States in 2004. She attended Armstrong Atlantic State University and later graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College, receiving her bachelor’s in Biology. She then proceeded the chiropractic route through Life University. There she received her Doctor of Chiropractic Care degree. She later joined The Joint Chiropractic Family in September 2020.
She decided to pursue the Chiropractic path because of her family history with her dad’s family practice. Her dad is a surgeon and owns a pharmacy in Guatemala, so she has always been exposed to healthcare. She always had a passion for changing a person’s lifestyle naturally. The tour she took at Life University gave her a different outlook on her career path and she knew at that point it was something she wanted to pursue.
Dr. Mendez believes that the best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to change a patient’s attitude and posture after being adjusted. Making a positive impact on the patient and further educating a patient about the importance of chiropractic care, is something she practices every day.
Outside of her life as a chiropractor, Dr. Mendez enjoys hiking, reading, listening to music, and cooking. She has an amazing support system: her son, Josue who is 7 years of age, 2 dogs, Ricky and Lexie, and a pet turtle, Joe. They all keep her motivated and driven to do what she loves day to day.
In Case You Didn’t Know
One of the coolest things Dr. Mendez has ever done was run a half marathon. She has never done anything of that nature and with the help of her best friend, she achieved that goal.
When asked to name four people, living or dead (but not friends/family members), who would comprise your perfect dinner party, and why, she responded Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, Robert Downey Jr, and Frank Sinatra. To her, Robert Downey Jr has an interesting life story, Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell are both hilarious, and Frank Sinatra has amazing music and an amazing voice.
One thing Dr. Mendez cannot go without in her fridge is half and half so that she can enjoy my coffee.
Dr. Angelica Prather, D.C., was born and raised in a small town of Griffin, Georgia. She attended Alabama State University and received her bachelors in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Medicine. It was during this time, giving the opportunity to shadow a chiropractor, she fell in love with chiropractic care and the natural remedies it presents for the body.
Pursuing her passion, Dr. Prather received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Life University in 2015. She has taught anatomy and physiology at University of North Georgia. She also worked for an integrated medical office in Gainesville, Georgia, where she focused in wellness and personal injury cases. She later joined The Joint Chiropractic in August 2018.
Dr. Prather says the best thing about being a chiropractor is being able to help and give hope to those in pain: “I love, not only the personable interaction I have with patients, but the ability to provide the education of the natural wellness it gives to the body. Being able to play a part in that, proactively, makes a difference for a patient. I love being able to make a difference for someone.”
Outside of her life as a devoted chiropractor, Dr. Prather enjoys traveling, shopping, reading, and learning random new things. She has travelled to countries such as: South Africa, El Salvador, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, and Puerto Rico. She has an amazing support system, her pet dog Ponce, whom keeps her motivated and driven to do what she loves.
In Case You Didn’t Know
One of the coolest thing Dr. Prather ever has done was skydiving. “I love the adrenaline it gave me. Will I ever try it again? Oh, most certainly!”
One of the most important things that Dr. Prather has in her fridge is water: “It is significant for your overall health and wellness and I drink lots of it! It plays hand in hand with getting adjusted regularly, because it can help reduce the probability of injuries or illnesses. With that combination, your body is able to eliminate toxins on a regular basis and this will allow the body to become less prune to future illness and will be able to recover a lot faster from injuries.”
