Fitness Fit for the Spring
By Brandi Goodman
Fitness opportunities start to become more abundant once spring arrives. Now is the time to start heading outdoors for some fitness fun that can make you enjoy working out again. Many of these choices don't even feel like a workout, but instead have you feeling joyful and entertained. Try out some fitness options fit for the spring to get back in the groove.
Color Run
Starting in the spring, many locations start offering outdoor challenges and events for people to participate in. A color run is one such event that many enjoy doing. You not only get to run your way through the course, but get hit with color as you do it. It's a fun and festive time for all. Lenora Park in Snellville was home to the spring school color run in March while Atlanta hosts a color run of its own in April. You can find several starting in the spring and making their way into summer.
Sports Lessons
With the sun shining in the spring and time to do it now that the holidays are over, a sports lesson is another great option for getting fit. Tennis, golf, and swimming lessons are available to those with membership at The Summit Chase Country Club in Snellville.
Walk in a New Place
If you tend to go for regular walks as part of your fitness routine, it may be time to find a new location. You can still continue with your walks since this is a great activity to burn calories and build muscle. A change of scenery will be wonderful motivation, though, to want to keep going. Check out some other parks and trails in nearby cities to explore all there is to offer around you.
Outdoor Yoga
Yoga helps to reduce stress, center the mind, and improve flexibility. An outdoor yoga class is ideal in the springtime when the sun is shining and a light breeze keeps you cool as you exercise. Even if there isn't a class you can join, head to a local park yourself with your yoga mat and give it a try. You can also invite a few friends so you don't feel insecure trying it alone.
Enjoy your workouts by trying fitness opportunities that are more your style. You don't have to hit the gym to work up a sweat. Try outdoor options and fun activities to get your blood pumping and your muscles moving. It's a great way to start your spring.
