3 Good Reasons to Go for a Morning Stroll
By Genevieve Cunningham
You may have heard that exercise is one of the best things you can do first thing in the morning. You've heard all of the benefits. It helps you lose weight, wakes you up, gives you energy. But when you hear these benefits, you likely only have one thing in mind: Mornings are already tough! Exercising in the morning is not for the weak -- it's so hard to get up and moving before work. Adding exercise seems impossible. But what if it were easy? What if all you really needed to do was put on some shoes and go for a walk? If you've been considering a little bit of morning exercise, take a look at these three reasons to go for a stroll with the morning sun.
It Really Does Give You Energy
Even though it's hard to believe sometimes, exercise in the morning really does give you energy. And when that exercise is something gentle -- like walking -- you can gain the energy without wiping yourself out. Exercise forces your body to make chemicals that boost both energy and mood. Don't get discouraged if the first few days cause you to go to bed early. Your body will adjust and soon you'll get to enjoy energy during the day and better sleep at night -- all on a regular basis.
It Gets It Out of the Way
One really good reason to walk in the mornings is simply because it gets exercise out of the way. By the time you get to work, your workout is done! You don't have to think about it after work or in the evening. The rest of the day is yours to do with as you please. If you like the idea of having this aspect of your day out of the way, walking in the morning is a great habit to keep.
It's Actually Incredibly Relaxing
While the thought of walking first thing might be initially daunting, it doesn't take long before it's an incredibly relaxing part of the day. In the early morning, the rest of the world is just waking up. It's dark and quiet, and you can gently walk yourself awake. It can be a soothing practice, and it's good for both mind and body. Put this in your morning routine to help you wake up slowly, calmly, and with a gentle push to get moving for the rest of the day.
A morning stroll can be a great way to wake up and begin your day. It's gentle and relaxing, but it still helps you burn calories and boost energy. Find a good spot, grab some shoes, and walk your way to better mornings and better health.
