Maintaining Healthy Skin Is Possible
By Tom Herrin
Many of us are concerned today about our appearance. It is a pretty big deal, especially if we deal with people. Our appearance is composed of two things, for the most part, and that is our dress and our face. The face, or course, is established by our skin. A lot of first impressions have been influenced by our skin. That is not to say that we have to be models all of the time, but we want our skin to look healthy. Of course, for other personal reasons, we want healthy skin as well. We are fortunate in that we can easily protect our skin if we establish some good practices.
Do a Little Exfoliating
At one time, I didn't have any idea what exfoliate means. I was walking through a mall one day when a young girl stopped me at a kiosk and was promoting a product. A few minutes later I found myself exfoliating with some kind of special salts. It was actually great. Spending those few minutes softened my hands beyond anything I had ever experienced. I have been a fan ever since. Exfoliating removes dry skin and leaves you with fresh, new skin that is very soft and smooth. Making this a regular practice may provide you with much softer skin.
Use Skin Care Products
There are all kinds of products available to use on our skin. Most have some good things about them while some maybe not. An important thing is to use them at the right time. It has been suggested that using them as soon as you get out of the bath or shower is best because it helps you to retain the moisture. Using these products later may allow the skin to lose this moisture and become drier. Therefore using them later becomes a bandage after the fact. While they may still have some value, it is more difficult to repair the skin rather than to maintain it.
Get Some Sleep
Most of us tend to deprive ourselves of sleep too often. As we strive to get more done, we sometimes sacrifice sleep. We really need to get the right amount for us. This may vary, but usually somewhere in the neighborhood of seven to eight hours per night works well. As we sleep our bodies carry on a natural process of maintenance. It makes repairs and restores many of the things we are in need of.
