Burning Calories Through Spring Fitness Fun

Burning calories doesn’t have to mean spending hours at the gym. Anyone can work off some weight and get in shape by enjoying some simple activities outdoors. Plenty of spring fitness opportunities exist when people take the time to look for them. These fun options get people working up a sweat without even realizing they’re working out.
Visit Local Parks
Staying cooped up inside all winter has many people ready to get outside in any way possible. By visiting various local parks and taking walks through each locale to see the sights, individuals can get in some exercise while enjoying their time. Most places have trails to walk on, while others offer biking trails and even hiking opportunities.
Take an Outdoor Fitness Class
Some fitness groups meet outside to give people more space to work out and a chance to enjoy the fresh air. Many host a weekly session at a local park for yoga or other exercise options. Check out one of these outdoor fitness classes in the spring and see if it’s worth going again.
Start a Garden
A garden takes much more work than one might think. All of the reaching, bending, carrying, and digging can have people working up a sweat faster than a typical workout. Start a garden in the spring and get outside regularly to maintain it. Doing so will burn some calories while making a beautiful addition to the lawn.
Many local parks offer a basketball court where anyone can come and shoot some hoops. Go by yourself and grab a friend and get in a good workout while trying to make some shots. The act of dribbling the ball and running down the court will burn more calories than you know. Attempting jump shots does, as well.
Walking a dog can be a lot of work and get people burning calories better than other exercise options out there. Those who don’t have a dog themselves can still get the benefits by volunteering to dog walk for someone else. Sites like Rover.com are even devoted to helping owners find someone to watch or sit for their pets. Signing up might be worthwhile to get some exercise in a fun (and adorable) way.
