Eat an Apple Every Day This Fall
By Brandi Goodman
National Apple Month takes place in October. Even without the extra observance, apples are a popular fruit this time of year. Apple picking is a common activity right alongside pumpkin patch visits for the fall. People bob for apples at Halloween parties. Apple pie makes its way to the table come Thanksgiving and Christmas. The red (or green) fruit bodes well for autumn. Eat one every day this fall for your well-being!
They Make a Low-Calorie Snack
One apple adds less than 100 calories on average to your daily count. That's a low-calorie snack option that will leave you satisfied due to the fiber and vitamins found within. If you're looking for a mid-morning snack or late afternoon treat, an apple will help satisfy your hunger.
They Aid in Digestion
Fiber may help you feel full for longer, but it also improves your digestive system. The four grams of fiber found in one apple on average can really work to get your digestive tract moving. Your stomach should feel good instead of bloated and filled.
They Provide Plenty of Vitamins
Vitamin C is one of the main options found within apples. You'll get roughly 14 percent of your recommended daily value just from one. However, numerous other vitamins are also present. You'll gain hefty doses of Vitamin K, Vitamin A, and various B vitamins as well. Other nutrients, such as potassium, manganese, and copper are also present.
They Fight Disease
The Vitamin C and other antioxidants found within apples work to fight disease. Feeling unwell? Have toxins in your body that need to be eliminated? An apple can help. Eat an apple and you'll be working to rid your body of harmful substances that are causing discomfort.
Tip: Leave the Skin On!
People often peel apples and only eat the inside. While this still provides you with plenty of vitamins and nutrients, you're not actually getting the full effect. The skin on many fruits and vegetables is where you'll gain some added benefits. Leave the skin on and eat the entire apple (sans the seeds and core) and you'll have even better results for your health.
Enjoy an apple any time you wish. Eat one every day this fall and keep the doctor away, as they say. The fruit contains so many important vitamins that are beneficial for your health. Eating them regularly can help you stay healthy and well so you can fully enjoy the season.
