3 Easy Tips to Help You Drink More Water

By Stepy Kamei

Making the choice to start improving your health and wellness is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Still, plenty of people are unaware of the fact that drinking enough water in order to stay hydrated is one of the best things you can do for your well-being. After all, people who drink plenty of water tend to report clearer skin, boosted optimism, and even more restful sleep at night. Unfortunately, it's easy to lose track of the day and go long periods of time without drinking water. Keep on reading to pick up some helpful tips and tricks on making sure you stay hydrated throughout the entire day.

Keep Your Bottle(s) Close

Sometimes, you can start the day headed off to work with every intention of drinking water regularly and often only to realize you've left your water bottle at home. Avoid this issue by making sure you always have a full bottle of water close at hand. This may mean you need to keep multiple bottles in multiple locations. For instance, you may want to keep one bottle on your nightstand, one in your purse, and one in your desk at work. Make sure to fill them up before the start of a new day so you're always prepared!

Make Some Infusions

Some people get bored by the taste of water, which is why they'd rather stick with sugary sodas and juices, which are worse for your health. You may want to try infusing your water with fresh fruit and herbs for a delicious kick of flavor. Raspberries, strawberries, lemon slices, cucumber, and sprigs of rosemary or basil are all excellent options to get your started off. Feel free to mix and match ingredients until you find a combination that you love!

Use Alarms and Reminders

You may need to rely on alarms and other types of reminders, at least in the beginning stages of your hydration journey, in order to meet your goals for drinking water. You can try setting an alarm to go off every hour in order to remind you to take a sip. If you can't use a noisy alarm throughout the day, consider making notes reminding you to check the clock and drink every 60 minutes. Be sure to place these notes somewhere you look often, such as above your computer monitor or by your mouse.

Match Your Other Drinks

If you're going to consume other beverages throughout the day, such as coffee, tea, or wine, be sure to balance them out with a glass of water as well. For one glass of any beverage, you should be drinking one glass of water as well.
