3 Reasons You Need to Start Choosing Water

By Virginia Laird

Have you ever taken a look at how much water you drink daily? Not many actually pay close attention to how much water is consumed each day. Research suggests you should drink as much as half of your body weight in ounces each day. This can help keep you hydrated and healthy. Health and wellness experts remind clients on a regular basis that it is water which is the healthiest choice of beverages. A few reasons to make water your beverage of choice include:

  • Water keeps you hydrated
  • Choosing water is less expensive than soda
  • Drinking water can help with losing weight

Water Keeps You Hydrated

The body needs water to stay properly hydrated to maintain function. When the body lacks proper hydration, it can more easily become ill. Research has long suggested that water is the best beverage for the body. It alone does not have additives which can be harmful for the body. Whereas soda (especially diet) have additives that can prove to be harmful for the body in more ways than one. Juices and regular sodas are loaded with sugar and calories which can set you off the path of a healthy diet.

Choosing Water is Less Expensive Than Soda

If you are one who grabs a soda each morning on your way to work, this can get expensive. Have you ever considered how much you spend on soda throughout the course of a week? Although on a daily basis it may be no more than a couple of dollars, at the end of the month this cost can exceed $50. If you are looking for a way to save some money, try investing in a water bottle which can be refilled and carried with you. This can also serve as a reminder to drink more water each day.

Drinking Water Can Help with Losing Weight

As one who is constantly searching for a way to improve my weight loss efforts, I can testify that drinking plenty of water can help. Water offers zero calories and can serve as a filler. Research suggests drinking one glass of water before each meal can help curb your appetite. This can prove to jumpstart your weight loss without having to diet too hard or hit the gym for hours on end.

Knowing that water is important for your health may help encourage you to drink more. However, if you are not a lover of water it can still prove to be a struggle. There are plenty of ways to jazz up your water, including adding fruit. It will be with much trial and error but you should be able to find a way to make water tingle your taste buds.
