The Skinny on Weight Loss

By Virginia Laird

While there are some who seem to lose weight effortlessly, the vast majority of those who try to lose weight struggle to find success of any kind. Health and wellness experts suggest that anyone preparing to begin a weight loss regimen should be prepared for temptation to give in and give up, and much more. Additionally, these experts have offered a few tips to help you make your journey a success, including:

  • Consume sweets in limited amounts
  • Hit the gym daily
  • Drink lots of water

Consume Sweets in Limited Amounts

Like so many others, sweets tend to be one of my many weaknesses. Research suggests that consuming too many tasty treats can lead to weight gain, as well as other health issues. For this reason, experts suggest it is best that you limit your consumption of sugary goodness. For many, this a struggle. Still, experts suggest that this is an important battle to tackle. For those who love sweet treats, it is suggested that you limit yourself to one or two treats each week. This can help you begin to curb your cravings of all things sweet and allow you to take control of the weight you want to lose.

Hit The Gym Daily

Health and wellness experts suggest that although working out is not necessary when trying to lose weight it can increase your ability to do so. For those trying to drop a few pounds it is recommended that you hit the gym daily. If you are one who does not know where to begin once you get there, look for a fitness staff member. These are team members who stand ready to help you map out a plan to meet your goals. Most gyms offer this service at little to no cost to you. Start making a plan to add a little exercise to your day and begin watching the pounds melt away.

Drink Lots Of Water

For many, when reaching for a beverage, water is far from the first choice desired. However, it is the best beverage to choose when trying to lose weight. Water is a zero calorie beverage that serves a host of purposes. Research suggests that staying properly hydrated helps to keep the functions of the body working correctly. Consuming plenty of water also helps flush toxins from the body. Water also serves as a filler when trying to curb your appetite. Health and wellness experts suggest that drinking a glass of water prior to each meal can help you feel more full, curbing your desire to eat more than necessary. It is recommended that you drink at least half of your body weight in ounces each day.

Now is the time to begin taking control of your weight by adding these tips to your weight loss regimen.
