Child’s Autism Shown To Improve with Chiropractic
A recent study suggests that autism can be prevented and even reversed due to chiropractic treatment. The Annals of Vertebral Subluxation published a case study done on a three-year-old girl who was diagnosed as autistic at age two by multiple medical doctors.
After failed efforts to receive any beneficial treatment with traditional medicine, her parents opted to try chiropractic care. The child was not only living with autism, but was also suffering from many non-autism related symptoms such as chronic headaches, acid reflux, nausea, insomnia and seizures.
Within one month of regular chiropractic treatment, those debilitating symptoms had vanished and there was a significant improvement in her ability to communicate with others, focus on tasks and make eye contact, as well as a decrease in her anxiety. Further treatments were able to eliminate all risk of seizure episodes. Eventually she was taken off all medications and even began to verbally communicate, which before was not possible.
Dr. Matthew McCoy, chiropractor and editor of The Annals of Vertebral Subluxation, found that damaged neurological structures in the spine can affect the overall body function. Correcting the spinal abnormalities such as vertebral subluxation through manipulations can lead to improving multiple disorders, not just treating the symptoms.
