Why Your Car May Be Causing Your Aching Back
There was a while there when I was completely baffled as to why my back was always hurting. I work out, eat right, sleep on a Tempur-Pedic mattress and never have had any known problems that would contribute to a bad back. Since I couldn’t figure out what was causing my lower back to ache, I decided to really pay attention to when my pain started to occur throughout my day in order to pinpoint the source.
I began to discover that my back hurt the most after a long drive and, after extensive internet research, I found that it was due to a lack of lumbar support in my car’s driver seat. The longer the car rides, the worse my pain level was, and since I commuted to work everyday, I knew I had to do something to fix my problem. Not driving anymore was obviously not an option, so finding a treatment option that alleviated my symptoms was crucial to my back health.
I found that chiropractic care was the type of therapy that helped my back the most. Chiropractic is a treatment that is based upon the idea that the nervous system plays a major role in the health and functioning of the body. When there are dysfunctions or blockages in the spine known as subluxations that prevent the nervous system from functioning properly, then the body can begin to experience a wide array of conditions, including chronic pain. When I started to receive chiropractic therapy for my lower back pain it treated my problem at the source, instead of just masking my symptoms like most pain medications do.
My chiropractor was able to identify subluxations in my spine as the main cause of my back ache. By removing the subluxations from my spine through various manipulation techniques, my spine was able to be realigned into its proper position in my body, allowing the nervous system to transport information smoothly between the body and the brain. This allowed my body to return to its most healthy state, which promoted its self-healing ability. The chiropractic manipulations also removed the pressure from my joints, giving me instant relief from my lower back pain.
Along with receiving regular chiropractic adjustments to ensure that my spine is properly aligned, by chiropractor recommended I stretch after my long commutes to and from work, as well as suggesting that I use a lumbar support cushion in my carseat. These changes have made a significant difference in my back pain, making it non-issue in my life. With chiropractic care I was able to get the relief I needed without having to resort to the use of medications or invasive procedures.
