4 Fitness Habits for Spring

By Brandi Goodman

Spring means the sun starts shining again and the weather is getting warmer. People start to come out of their houses and enjoy time outdoors once again. This is the perfect time to begin some fitness habits that can last a lifetime. Four fitness habits for spring should be tried by everyone hoping to work on their wellness goals.

Get in an Early Morning Workout

After we set the clocks forward in the spring, the sun shines earlier in the day. This gives plenty of daylight to get a workout in before even heading to work or school. People tend to wake up earlier with the sun shining, making morning a perfect time to exercise. This habit can be continued as the months go on, making it a habit people won't want to forget even once the clocks go back again.

Exercise Outdoors More Often

People may find themselves sticking to home workouts or gym time when it's colder outside. With spring in the air, outdoor exercise is a habit you can start to form easier. Going for a walk around the block or at a nearby park is one terrific option. You can also join an outdoor fitness class, take a bike ride, try your hand at a new sport, or sign up for a fitness event. Outdoor exercise allows you to get fit while also being in the sun, giving you even more health benefits for your mind and body.

Drink Water Before Your Workout and During

Staying hydrated will ensure you're able to make the most of your workout. When you're working out outdoors in particular, you're going to feel dehydrated and thirsty more often. Drink plenty of water before you even begin your routine and make sure to continue taking drinks throughout so your muscles and joints can stay hydrated and well.

Find an Activity You Enjoy

If you hate walking and feel like you'll get tired out quickly, then don't do it, at least not yet. Start out your exercise routine with physical activities you actually enjoy doing. This could be something as simple as playing catch outside with your kids or going for a bike ride. You'll be getting fit without having to think of it as exercise. This will make you more likely to continue.

Improving your level of fitness should be a priority if you want to enhance your health. You have to exercise daily if you want to be healthy and well. Adopting these fitness habits in the spring and maintaining them throughout the remainder of the year is one great way to get started.
