Stopping Stress When You Have a Full Plate

Your plate is full and you have numerous tasks you need to juggle in the day. It would be strange if you didn't feel stressed. However, feeling stressed out and overwhelmed will only take your mind away from the tasks at hand. There are ways to stop stress when you have a full plate. Give a few a try and see what works best for you.
Learn Breathing Techniques
Deep breathing can be a major stress reliever. Whenever you find yourself feeling overwhelmed during the day, simply stop and take some deep breaths. Breathe in deep through your nose and let that air out through your mouth. Repeat this several times until your mind has calmed.
Drink Water, Not Coffee
Stress can lead to poor sleep, requiring you to pump yourself full of caffeine throughout the day in order to stay awake and get your tasks completed. This habit may prove more detrimental than you realize. Too much caffeine can make it hard to sleep, causing you to repeat the cycle. Instead, you should be drinking water. Skip the coffee and soda pop and opt for plain water. It will give you the natural energy you need and boost your concentration.
Use Your Break for Exercise
When you do get a few minutes for a break, use it for exercise. A simple walk on your lunch break or even jogging up the stairs quickly rather than taking the elevator to your next destination can be a huge help. Physical activity releases endorphins that can help your mind feel good and your body less stressed.
Turn Up the Happy Tunes
Music is a stress reliever for many people. Anytime you're feeling stressed, upset, or even down, putting on some happy tunes can have the impact you need. Listening to something happy and upbeat can put you in a better mood and help you to feel the same. Tracks such as Pharrell Williams' "Happy" and Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine" are good choices.
Stress can be overwhelming and cause tension in your body. You may experience poor sleep, irritability, and even illness when you experience chronic stress. When you have a lot on your plate and too many tasks to accomplish, do what you can to find fast stress relief so you can ease your mind and get refocused on your duties.
