Save Your Vision With These Tips
By Brandi Goodman
Eyesight diminishes as we age. There are some things we can try to save our vision, though, and allow ourselves to see clearly for as long as possible. Save Your Vision Month in March is the perfect time to learn them.
Protect Your Vision at Work
Work accidents are quite common. It's imperative that you wear safety glasses if you're working on anything that could potentially cause harm to your eyes. Computer use needs to be monitored as well. Something getting into your eye isn't always the problem. Staring at a screen for hours can also harm your eyesight. No matter if you're working in construction or sitting in an office, you need to consider how your eyes are being affected by the type of work you're doing and take the necessary precautions to keep them safe.
Protect Your Vision at Home
Just because you're at home doesn't mean these same rules don't apply. If you have a project to complete, you need to wear safety glasses. If you plan on working on the computer or even looking at your phone for a while, then it's best to apply the blue light filter setting. You should also take frequent breaks so you aren't staring at an illuminated device for extended intervals.
Protect Your Vision Outdoors
Any time you're outdoors, you're exposing yourself to the harmful rays of the sun. Wearing sunglasses can greatly improve your chances of keeping your eyesight working well. Some pairs offer UV protection and will filter out the harmful rays so they can't impact your eyes.
Protect Your Vision From Makeup
Makeup can impact your eyes more than you realize. More than accidentally getting some eyeliner into your eye, you could potentially introduce bacteria if you're using outdated makeup that's been used regularly. You should be throwing out anything you've had for six months already. It's especially important to replace your mascara, eye shadow, and eyeliner often. Also, make sure you're washing these things off of your face before you go to bed.
Save Your Vision Month in March is a great time to learn these tips, but it isn't the only time you should utilize them. Do everything you can to keep your eyesight intact no matter the month. You always want to keep these tips in mind so you can maintain your vision and your well-being.
