3 Ways to Feel the Weight Loss Success
By Genevieve Cunningham
It's rare to meet a person who isn't interested in losing a little weight. Unfortunately, carrying around a few extra pounds is perfectly normal in today's society. But the harsh truth is that losing weight is really hard. It's especially hard to stick with it when you feel as though you aren't making any progress. No matter how hard you work, that scale just won't budge. If this is happening to you and you find yourself losing motivation, take a look at these other great ways to feel a little success in your weight loss journey.
Track Inches
Sometimes even if the scale isn't moving, it's likely that you’re still losing inches. A great way to feel success is by measuring and keeping track of those inches. The scale may be stuck at the same weight, but you may lose an inch from each arm and three from the waist. This can be incredibly motivating at a time that you would otherwise be ready to give up.
Take Pictures
A picture is worth 1,000 words. Progress pictures can make all the difference in the world when it comes to tracking your success. Take a picture at the beginning of your journey. Or if you've already begun, take a picture now. Every week or two, take another picture. Compare pictures over time, and you will likely see quite a few changes happening in your body. It's very encouraging to see yourself changing even when it feels like you are getting nowhere.
Buy Clothes
One really great way to feel successful is to buy new clothes. Even if you have to buy a bigger size than what you would prefer, clothes that fit the body well make us feel much better about our appearance. Buy clothing that flatters your current shape. As you lose more weight, you can replace that clothing. Feeling good about what you put on your body is going to make the entire journey feel a lot more worth it.
There's just no denying that losing weight is tough. It's stressful and frustrating and we often want to give up. But if we have multiple ways to gauge our success, we may be able to make it through the tough moments and stay on track. Use these methods to help yourself feel success, and you will be much closer to reaching your ultimate goals.
