Here's When You Should Get Help With Anxiety

By Genevieve Cunningham

Anxiety is a serious problem. If you've never had anxiety, or maybe you've only suffered from mild or occasional anxiety, then you may not really understand what all the fuss is about. But for those who suffer from ongoing or severe anxiety, you know just how debilitating it can be. Just how much it can get in the way of life. How it can hinder relationships and health. In many cases, we can suffer through anxious moments. They pass and all is well. But there are definitely times when enough is enough. If you've been suffering from seemingly endless anxiety, take a look at these signs it's time to get help.

When It's Non-Stop

Feeling anxious on occasion -- perhaps before a big presentation or another big event of some kind -- is completely and totally normal. But if your anxiety is non-stop, you need to get some help. You're not supposed to feel anxious from morning to night. You're not supposed to barely make it through the day every day. If you're feeling anxious more often than not, that's a clear sign that a little extra help is a good idea.

When You Can't Function

Really bad anxiety does a lot more damage than just making you feel bad. If can make it almost impossible to operate. It can make it difficult to get out of bed. Difficult to focus. Difficult to control your emotions. If it's becoming hard to function, it's really important to get help. This sensation is hard to beat on your own. It'll likely come and go in waves, but when it's here, it's likely to be stronger and stronger each time. Don't let anxiety take away your productivity and ability to live, especially when help is as simple as seeing your doctor.

When You're Tired of It

Maybe you're just sick of feeling anxious. Maybe you're sick of that feeling in your stomach. Sick of the worry and stress. Sick of the constant up and down of your emotions. If you're tired of anxiety, go get help. Ask your doctor for medicine or a referral for therapy or for some coping techniques. You don't have to live with it. Get help at any point so that anxiety isn't something you have to deal with for the rest of your life.

Anxiety happens to everyone. It's a part of life and something we have to learn to deal with. But if your anxiety is getting the best of you, don't be afraid to reach out and get help. Getting the help you need can make all the difference in your life and your health, so reach out today to get moving in the right direction.
